With fines being imposed (and ride through penalties) they'll be talking about this one for weeks!

Si. :)

Indeed. And once again the winner has had his moment of glory overshadowed by the antics behind him. Although I don't really care for Pedrosa the guy is amazing on a bike but just can't catch a break. Or maybe that's the problem, he can. I'm guessing too that Simoncelli got a earful from his Honda bosses.

And it looks like Rossi is starting to get a handle on the Duc.

Yeah right, have the fastest two guys on the track out of the race, the guy leading the championship on his back up bike,
have the fastest guy all weekend win by 8 seconds, and then you finish 10 seconds ahead of the guy who got the ride thru!
yep that's getting the handle on her! wait a couple of races, I realize that If's and but's were candies and nuts we would all
have a merry christmas, BUT, IF, Simonsilly hadn't knocked over Pedrosa, and IF Cal Crutchlow would have made the race,
and IF Lorentho is on his "A" bike, Rossi finishes the race in a strong 10th place, just ahead of Nicky "wait till we get on the 1000's"
Hayden, That Ducati has "Issues" for either Rossi or Nicky "you guys go on ahead I will be back here if you need me" Hayden to
get the handle on that bike, they need Simonsilly to team mate with Josh Herrin, and clean out the whole field ahead of them!

I found it interesting that the lap times for the fast guys in the race were faster than their qualifying times. Rossi, in typical fashion, always seems to find a bit more + tactics to surprise his opponents.

Absolutely! And there was actually a lot of motorcycle racing in this one! Remember, I don't believe the fastest riders on the planet riding the fastest, most advanced motorcycles on the planet around a track is necessarily "motorcycle racing", even if they are touching 200 MPH. I go to Bonneville to see pure speed, and they are knocking on the door of 400 there!
Anyway, this season has started off with a lot of racing action, let's hope it stays that way!
And what's up with Ben?? Geeze, he was doing better last year on a satellite bike. And connecting a crash with a tool left on the bike...doesn't he check his bike over? Making excuses & borderline whining are just not acceptable, not for Elboze! Neither are mid-pack finished.
PC Bob, give Mama Spies a call and tell her she needs to yank a knot in that boy's tail!

GP2 has been very exciting as well, with lots of "racing". I think maybe we saw a new Alien in the works with that kid who won yesterday...let's hope so. I don't think Elias is headed for super-stardom, at least at this point.

I don't often, but I actually feel sorry for Pedrosa and Colin. Talk about not being able to catch a break...

Oh, and major kudos to Valle for chasing down & passing Hor-Hay...take that Weenie Boy!

And Stoner...go dude, you're due again.

The "tool" left in Ben's bike was a plug for the fuel vent line.

Mary has not been in a particularly good mood of late...

I'd heard it was forceps clamped on the vent line?
Pretty inexcusable, regardless of whose responsibility it was or what it was.

Right OHHH!
Benny (his Saturday name) SPANKED the rest of the field, and here we go with the "If's" and"But's" again,
"If" Caparosi hadn't crashed in front of Bejamin (his Sunday name) in pole qualifier, he would have been on pole instead
of Sideshow Simoncelli, (he was only 8 100ths faster than Ben (his Friday name), and Elbows (his podium name) had to check
up to avoid Loris.
Now once again Sideshow wipes out another front runner, and he has already been to the wood shed, so what does race control
do now? next week is his home GP, think he will be riding within his skills there!, if he knocks down Rossi in Italy "they" will have
to put sideshow in the witness protection program.
Ducati still doesn't look like it's working really that well, Assen is supposed to be a "Ducati" track, both Rossi and
Nickey I should go to WSBK Hayden, look lost on the desmo, either that bike has absolutely no feel
or rear grip,or power, or both of them have forgotten how to ride, I would guess former over the latter.

Go Ben!

Yeah, and wouldn't you just know Ben's first GP win ("first" being the operative word!) would be the one I'd miss...damn. Eight freakin' thirty telecast, who knew? I was out doing yard work at 8:30 and would much rather have been watching, that's for sure.
I've read all the stuff on Crash.net but haven't gotten to any others yet. Didn't really sound like much of a race which is so often the case, but it's hard to tell, just from reports. Lots of "drama" for sure, I'd rather see racing. But again, I didn't see the race.
In some interview last week Vale was calling for larger fields, as many as 26 starters. Yeah, the same guy calling for fewer electronic "rider aids". Both would go a l-o-n-g ways towards improving the 'racing'. You have to wonder if the cost savings of simpler electronics would allow larger fields and more real racing...?

EDIT: You guys do realize I suppose, that we're talking about 2 different races on this older (May) thread?

Maybe Speed with replay it, sometimes they do stuff like that at 3:00 AM or whatever. DVR it if you got the box.

I don't think the race itself was that interesting, no real dicing or daring passes for position (that worked). The drama was in the incidentals, crashes, and in seeing Spies take his first win in such a convincing manner. Hopefully Mugello will provide some real competitive drama.

I have to say that the money I spent (that I should not have) on the season video pass has been well worth it, especially when I watch watch other motorcycle racing events on Speed and see how badly they butcher the coverage. The AMA outdoor MX series coverage is a complete joke.

Yeah, I've been watching the Speed listings but no love yet.
I think I'll just start gathering pop bottles and get video pass next year. If I don't find enough I'll borrow some of Dean's...!:028:

Dave, if you're really bothered I'll send it over on DVD. Spies rode well, especially considering his lack of form so far his year. If he can repeat that at Miatta Park he'll give you guys something to really cheer about! (Actually the Assen DVD is remarkable for one thing, a shot at the end of Stoner laughing!)

Dave, http://www.racefantv.com/USTV.htm is your friend.

Agreed. It wasn't much of a race but a great outcome.

Loved how Ben stepped it up each and every time KC started to close the gap.

Simoncelli; "A man's got to know his limitations!" (And that of his tyres.)

Si really, I know you're busy so don't bother with the DVD. All I really care about is seeing Ben win his first one "of many"!
I'm sure there will be many clips on YouTube.
Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the link Bob, I'll check it out.

Interestingly, Speed has re-run the GP2 race at least twice, but no GP!
The races are usually better anyway so I guess I oughta just shut the eff' up and watch it.

Stoner laughing?! My God, who's next, Dani Boy?:028:

Colin Edwards twittered a picture of his front tire after the race. The riders are very unhappy with Bridgestone.
