How crazy is forum spam by outsiders when they can get away with it? Below is what happens when you "leave the front door unlocked" on a web forum. Over at a model airplane forum the webmaster posted this message:
"So I just remembered that when vb4 [forum software like the Cafe uses] first came out I setup a test forum at rcflying.net.[he didn't implement any screening since it was just a test forum]

That's a just a test forum that was left open to anyone to post. 61,770 members signed up just to post spam and posted 6,517 messages. Barbarians at the gate!.
Even here with the screening feature is rather cleverly implemented I delete about 50% of all people who register because they are obviously spammers and another 40% never complete the e-mail verification so they can be screened by yours truly or one of our beloved moderators. About 10% are verified as useful humans who might actually want to hang around here.
