Crackdown due after 'drugs found on WSBK truck'
Transportation belonging to motorsport teams is set to be more thoroughly searched after the discovery of drugs and a handgun on a WSBK truck.
Very serious drugs & quantities involved. Looks like an organized drug distribution setup.

How very sad, not to mention stupid. Paul Bird's teams have, in the past, been at the forefront of BSB. Champions at least twice (Steve Hislop and Shakey Byrne) they are (better make that were) highly respected.

Thank God there is "another side of the story"! Let's hope it holds up. It sounds legit...
Paul Bird Motorsport has reacted to allegations that banned substances were discovered in one of their World Superbike team trucks, stating that it has no connection to the items found.

If I were a member of the team, I would insist on taking a drug test, at least. Probably one Person involved would start to squirm. It is a shame for one Persons mistake to shame the whole organization.

I'll bet somebody thought they could make easy money. At least the riders don't seem to be involved so there's a little less tarnish on the sport.

All very mysterious. Certainly Bird would have no need to resort to drugs for money, he's a successful and very wealthy man who runs a top level race team as a hobby. If it was a "chancer" who dumped the stuff in the truck how was he ever going to get it back? Knock on the door and say "Excuse me, but I think I might have left something in your truck at Assen". Yeah, that'd work..

Brings to mind the story of NHRA Pro Stock drag racing champion Darrell Alderman back in the early '90s. He apparently decided to add some money to his racing effort by dabbling in drugs for profit (http://articles.latimes.com/1992-01-03/sports/sp-5711_1_pro-stock-drag). I hope nobody in the management of the Kaw team was that stupid.
