...I have a song in my head that I won't be rid of until I buy a copy and play it a few times. Growing up I always thought it was Arlo Guthrie, but now I am not so sure.

Two questions.
1) Can someone identify the song and artist from this lyric?

"Rollinng into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of Ki's,
Don't check my bags if you please, Mr. Customs man."

2) Does anyone have an mp3 copy of this song that they would be willing to e-mail to jeff @ planethobson.com ?

Cheers

Thanks guys.
I thought it was Arlo, but I haven't heard the song since probably 1977.

I searched iTunes last week and didn't find it. (I was searching for "Rolling" or "Rollin'" when the song is actually "Coming". This time it popped right up. Once I get home, I will hear it and let you know if is still as good as I remember.

Cheers,
Jeff

While we're talkin' music...there was a band that I liked..back in the 80's I think..called 'Sea Level'.

I have a best of CD that I downloaded into my iPod for my last ride...It was so good to hear their stuff again..has anyone else heard of them?

I think they're a bit like 'Rush' here in Oz...I'm the only one that likes them..or even heard of them.

Sea Level had some ex Almond Brothers Band members. I haven't heard them in a long time, but I remember them being pretty good.

I played with a group named "Freeway" from '69 through '71. My drummer was an extremely talented young man by the name of Teddy Linder. Before the Allman Brothers Band, Dwayne and Greg had a group called the Allman Joys, while Dickie Betz and Berry Oakley played in a band called The Roamin's. Teddy was their drummer. I think they were all in the Sarasota/Bradenton area of Florida. We worked with the Allman Bros quite often in North and South Carolina. Dwayne and Dickie played some trury amazing stuff

Time to resurrect a music thread.....

What I love about the Christmas Season (or should I say "Holiday Season"?) is that things slow down a little now and I get a chance to explore music. I sat in the basement today cleaning up and getting ready for Christmas and listened to 10cc's Bloody Tourists album (I hadn't listend to it for at least 15 years) and fell back in love with them. "Dreadlock Holiday" is one of the great songs that I don't think ever got enough air play on radio (just like Canada's superb Emm Gryner. Underplayed and under appreciated by commerical radio). So I had to explore a little further and came across Kevin Godley and Lol Creme (in Godley and Creme) performing "Snack Attack" and "An Englishman in New York." Superb musicians under appreciated today I suspect. Gotta go. Listening to The Kinks "Hollywood Boulevard"....

TM...I got it...you want me to email it?

BTW, I have, I think every Arlo Guthrie song recorded. I'm a big fan. I've seen him in concert many times.

Roger. Thanks for the offer but I downloaded it a long time ago. Gord dragged this thread our of history somehow.

I have been trying to play the bassline for "Coming into Los Angeles" but I can't find a score or tab for it. Those old recordings are hard to distinguish. I made up my own and it sounds OK, but I would like to play it like it was written.

Does anyone have the score or bass tab for this song.

By the way, where are some of these guys? I hevn't seen geechie or Dj post in a long time.

I'm here.. I still check out the cafe every day but just don't comment much.

I'm on the water every day so don't ride quite as much.

Here's some pics from a recent surfing trip.. http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=44361

I'm looking at doing a big Tassie bike ride soon so I'll be taking pictures and will post them.

As far as music goes I've been listening to a lot of Joe Bonamassa and Donovan Frankenreiter.

Merry Christmas guys.

What!? Not Mi-Sex? One of the unheralded Aussie bands of the late 1970s early 1980s. But then, I guess you weren't even born then were you Deej!

Merry Christmas to you as well...

Hey DJ. It's nice to hear from you. I don't post much either. In the past 8 months I've moved twice and got promoted twice. I just don't have a lot of free time. On top of that my newest hobby, bass guitar, is cutting into my free time. I am just about finished building a 5 string bass from a kit. What a blast!

Smokin' Joe Bonamassa kicks serious ass. I never heard of Donovan Frankenreiter, but if you mention him in the same sentence as Joe Bonamassa, he must be good.

Frankie is very different to Joe..He much like Jack Johnson..in fact they're mates and both surfers..Just great music and lyrics rather than music talents.

Speaking of bass gutars..I saw a new'ish vid the other day of Cream with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce and they were playing Sunshine of your love (the last song on the dvd) and you should have seen Jack Bruce go on that bass guitar..Wow.

Check it out if you get a chance.

I play "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Crossroads" from Cream. I am no Jack Bruce though!
