Hi boys,
The battery on my R1150R died and won't hold a charge anymore. Does anyone have suggestions on the kind that the would recommend?

I'd appreciate any insight you guys might have.

Thanks

Hi Ab, good to hear from you. I think I'm going to have to replace the battery on my 850R before I sell it. The "Odyssey" batteries get good write ups, although possibly not the cheapest solution. Having said that, batteries are like helmets: always buy the best one you can afford!

Good luck, let us know how you get on..

Abs,

I have a fairly new BMW battery that was in my GS when I broke it. If someone out there knows if it will fit your R1150R I'll be more than glad to give it to a cafe brother. Just pay the shipping from SC and it's yours. I wouldn't think it would be more than $20.00 or so. If it will fit PM me your address and I'll get it coming.

I put an Odssey in my old R1150R and it fit and worked fine. My crash precluded finding out the service life of the battery!

But, as I recall the terminals did not fit on the R's cables. You may be able to get the proper terminal adapter when you buy it. I did not realize there was a problem, so I took what they had. I fabricated a connector with a piece of copper tubing flattened out and bent.

Worked fine, just had to make sure it cleared the bottom of the tank!

Put a new Oddesy in the R1100RS a week or so ago. Came with pre-bent-up adapters.

The 1150R and 1150GS batteries are the same. "Nothing" ( plus shipping) is a hell of a good price!

Sir Simon is correct....the battery is unspillable but be sure to use ground shipping. If you send it 'air' it becomes hazardous material asper Federal regulations

Si,
Will do. I'm glad to see Doug take the reins and keep the cafe running like a top. :)

I've had my roadster for ten years and two odyssey batteries.

Speaking of batteries, I put a Cycle Gear Platinum battery in the Tiger. It was 85 bucks and has a lifetime replacement guarantee. My stocker was 4+ years old and had never seen a charger ;) .

I only replaced it because I figured time wasn't on my side and it's my transport and can't afford it to go belly up. Besides, the Tiger is going to be a long term keeper.
