View Full Version : Antique Motorcycle Club of America, Sunshine Chapter Meet 2011
Spent a few hours wandering and admiring the old bikes at the Antique Motorcycle Meet in Eustis, FL.
Thought you might like to see some of the motorcycles.
They are not presented in any particular order.

A most enjoyable afternoon.

Thanks for sharing the varied line up of bikes, JB. I wonder what the story is on the Indian with the bobbed fenders. The H-D adventure bike is cool, looks like it would be a hoot to ride. The tan colored Indian could only look better if it was in my garage. Your photos reminded me that the annual vintage bike event here in AZ is coming up next month. Looking at old bikes and playing "what if?" and "If only" is a great way to spend a few hours.

Loved those old BSA's. There was a dealer (Barneys) that solkd a lot of BSA in the St Petersburg/ Tampa, Florida area. That is where I bought my new Lightning back in '68.

I thought it was a Cushman at first. Never saw one with that whatever that is between the engine and the front down tubes.
(Or if I ever did, I don't remember . What day did you say this is?)

I thought it might be a Cushman also, but have never seen one like that.

Back then Barneys sold BSA's, Nortons, Royal Enfields, BMW's and Yamahas. Back then there was a group of us that hung out together, road raced and just generally raised hell together. Royal Sherbet, head tech, Ray Hempstead son in law of the owner and Beverly, Rays wife. We road raced in Dade City Florida and Daytona. This was back in the late 60's where I had unlimited use of one of the Flying Schools where I taught, Comanche 260B. The stories, the pit tootsies, frequent visits to the mile hi club, almost more than a movie plot, an old turn of the century house right on the beach...................Just living thru all of that was beyond amazing.

In every imaginable way! Your constitution is an amazing thing Mr. Lear!
Dean, have you ever had a chance to compare notes with Keith Richards?

Keith was once heard to remark "Being in the 'Stones was ok. But that Dean Lear guy, man, he had it made!".

Don't want to make you jealous old son, but I've been promised a ride on Don's Indian..
(A mixed blessing actually, as Knocker rode one during the war. He confided in me that he was "less afraid of the bloody Germans than that bastard!". I think it was the foot clutch and peculiar throttle action that worrried him!)
