Betcha they've exceeded the GVWR of that vehicle. And pity to poor kid up front with no shoes and so close to the header...Or the one all the way at the back, who must be holding onto the taillight with just his hands.

made the milled aluminum adapters for Pro Tapers onto my GS. He's an amazing engineer, and has put together some incredible things, like a GS based on the S platform, and is a fun guy (as opposed to a fungi) all around. He's a Bay Area, Ca. fellow from South America. His business is called

Well worth a look. I think his current ride is a KTM 950 Adventure. By the way, those bars made my GS faster in the curves and cheese dick's and ass weasels now stay far away from me! Thanks Ric! Great guy to do biz with.

Now here's something Wild Will and I can agree on 100%! :icon_eek:
Ricardo Kuhn is one hell of a neat guy, and he makes some fantastic stuff. Make sure you call him on the phone and you are in for a real treat! I have a set of his Pro-Taper mounts with Renthal Aluminum "Fat Bars" on my R-1150-R and they were one of the best mods I ever made to the bike. I had some wrist discomfort and hand numbing in my right hand (probably due to a scaphoid bone break from years ago) with the stock RR handlebars and had read about his rigs. Called him up and chatted a long time, and he knows tons about ergonomics. Sent him all the info he asked for on body dimensions, riding style and background, etc., then we talked on the phone a couple more times, and I ordered the bars. He also tried to insist that I not send him a check until AFTER the bars and clamps arrived and I had them mounted and test rode with them. He guarantees his Pro-Taper mounts and bars 100%... You don't like 'em, send 'em back, no questions asked.
Still, it just didn't seem right given all the time and effort the had already spent, so I sent him the money anyway...
Clamps and bars arrived, went on easily and fit and finish was better than PERFECT, perhaps the best I have ever seen in an aftermarket component. Machine work was flawless and is gorgeous just to sit and look at in its own right. I rode with 'em a bit and then called him up. He immediately wanted to know if my hand numbness was gone... Truthfully it wasn't completely, but I could ride a lot longer before it set in with his bars. He said he had kind of anticipated this, but he wanted to not cut the bars too short so he would have some length to work with, and said he might need to cut them off 1/8th of an inch to make them perfect for my build, style etc.!!! He said to ride with them a bit more and try and get more used to 'em, but if the numbness never went away completely then send the bars back and he would remove the pieces he makes on the ends to fit the handlebar end weights or Throttlemeister set-ups, cut 1/16th of an inch off the ends of the Renthals and refit everything for NO CHARGE - not even shipping!!!
I did get used to 'em as they were, and since that time I have never had wrist pain or hand numbness ever again. And they do damp some vibes out of the bars and grips, too. Front end control feel is improved, and the bars should be much stouter than the crap soft steel that BMW uses in their OEM bars if you were to fall with 'em.
All in all, a terrific product from a wonderful guy. He has had some financial woes on and off with his business, but that is more because he is a perfectionist and really offers more product and more personal service than he charges for. I highly endorse the guy, and wish he and his products were better known. He deserves to be a real success, so if you have an R-1150-R or GS try his Pro-Taper kits. You won't be sorry and the money couldn't be going to a nicer guy. I only wish he made more products for sale, as I am a real Ricardo Kuhn fan.
Cheers!

Ricardo inspired and instructed me how to set up my MZ Super Motard and Speed Triple with Pro Taper handlebars to improve/fix ergo problems that were causing/aggravating hand, wrist & finger pain. (My Chiropractor asked me how I *expected* my hands to feel after 48 years of riding motorcycles and over 30 pounding on these stupid keyboards!)
All those parts still hurt but not as much as before and I think (hope) it has slowed the degeneration of my digits.
Ricardo has a Masters in Industrial Ergonomics or some such. He actually *is* a Master...

Funny you all should mention Ricardo, he has been a good friend for about 5 years, have been working with him for about 2 months trying to set up a program for him business wise, if it all works out, it would be very good for him and all his customers and an expanded product line.
Allan, I did not realize that was why your RR was so comfortable when we traded at Big Bend.

Glad to hear you are helping Ricky with his business...he needs all the help that way he can get.
GS drivers I've talked with who have Ricky Bars all swear their bikes are a hundred pounds lighter with the bar conversion!

Bro Darth, he is almost a Savant when it comes to ergonomics and machining goodies to accomplish same. The problem is that he is on the opposite side of the spectrum business wise. The problem is to come up with a relationship that he can create and do his thing that he feels comfortable with as he has been taken advantage of (screwed) so many times and has been left holding the bag. I hope it works out.........not easy however.

Yeah, I picked up on all that too.
I like forward to meeting Ricky some day.
