An engine like this can probably be tuned to around 135-140 bhp in race trim, so the 122bhp in the standard bike with air/oil cooling is pretty good. It feels good too, especially at full throttle, where the engine pulls like an ox from 7.000 rpm on. It is evident that BMW has increased the rev ceiling as part of making the new R1200S as sporty as a Boxer can be. BMW has followed the US army motto; "Be all you can be" - and the R1200S is.

fnfalman... interesting...so are you saying you would might prefer an HP R1200S over your Tuono? Can you explain further... Is it the extra torque down a bit lower?

I hope that I wouldn't have to make the choice of whether to own an R1200S or a Tuono.

But if it were to come down to it, I'd prefer the R1200S. Why? Because I've always been a Beemer man.

There is high expectation for the R1200S with its sporty nature. I hope that it can live up to the hype.

That looks like a tiny motorcycle for 122 hp. I bet she scoots. If it wasn't for the neck issues, I'd like the S. The S with almost the same power, looks to weight about 200 lbs. less than my K bike. The weight makes touring the K bike sooo much easier in Windy Kansas.
