Wooooooo-Hoooooooooo! Finally!
I don't believe it!
Just got a call a bit ago from my trusty, dusty, local Kawasaki/Yamaha dealer, and my new 2006 Yamaha FJR-1300 is IN TRANSIT! Which means it has finally left the Los Angeles warehouse and is somewhere between there and Texas... It could even hit today since Yamaha never gives the exact day the bikes leave the warehouse to the dealer, they just suddenly show in transit one day on their computer. Most likely it will hit here Tuesday, but ya' never know...
Serial number shows it to be the 192nd one produced... Funny, I was the 90th person in the US according to the Yamaha "Priority Delivery Claim Form", but Yamaha has been full of cah-cah from the beginning on this deal. The bikes are supposed to be delivered in the order they were purchased by date, yet I ordered mine (and this verified by Yamaha's own form) on October 4th, 2005... However, there are guys on the FJR forums that didn't order their's until as a late as November that have already taken delivery. There actually appears to be no rhyme or reason to Yamaha's distribution and delivery of the FJR's... Weird.
But it gets weirder yet...
The bike is in transit, by truck, from Los Angeles, but the saddlebags are in transit, via UPS, from Chicago!!!
How odd is that?
No explanation as to why from Yamaha - that's just the way it is when you ask 'em!
Well, now the ball is really up in the air as to whether the big Yammie Feejer will be along on the Hill Country ride. If it hits today or Tuesday then it will probably tag along in addition to the R-1150-R. Later than that and I'm afraid it will have to stay home...
Fingers still crossed in Texas!
Cheers!
