"Colin Edwards says Ducati's decision to withdraw from World Superbikes was motivated by the rule changes, rather than Valentino Rossi."
"In a candid interview with SuperbikePlanet.com, the former WSBK champion revealed he was close to sealing a deal to return to the series he won in 2000 and 2002, only for it to fall through when Ducati claimed it was uncertain of staying."

I don't feel a huge amount of sympathy for Ducati on that one. All through their "glory years" when they had a 33% capacity advantage over the fours the organisers (Italians, strangely) flat out refused to level the playing field even a little. Maybe the latest rules do favour the multies, so, make one!
Anyway, it's too soon for Colin to leave Grands Prix, he hasn't won one yet!

Wouldn't that be a glorious occasion?!

Indeed it would. He damn nearly won at Assen in 2006, but crashed on the last corner of the last lap. When he picked himself up he was heard to remark "Oh bother!" and "Dash it all!". Something like that anyway. I rather like Colin. A British chap who was visiting relitives in Texas was told that he should visit a neighbour who was "something to do with motorcycles". Enquiries revealed that, yes, it was Colin so our hero plucked up the courage to go round and knock on the door. Colin was away testing but his wife, Alicia, made the chap some tea. She phoned Colin who was "pumped" that the visitor had sought him out and, after chatting to their guest, asked Alicia to give him some momentoes. The chap left with a bundle of photos and stickers. Nice folks, Texans. Well, some of them!
