Thanks Randy.
That was just like riding your race bike at Bonneville, except fewer problems. And well you know...faster!

The 400 MPH motorcycle is very close now...what's next?

Just a bit...you think LOL

I think the next big thing will be 300 mph on a sit-on motorcycle (partial streamliner)

The next big thing for me will be 200mph on 599cc...

You still thinking about a Lakester one of these days?
If so, are you locked into a belly tank body?
If not, I could have an option for you...

Nope, no lakester. Those parts are going into the turbocharged GSXR600 shown above.

I meant later on...you were talking about that once.

Joe and I decided to cancel the lakester build when we found out the safety equipment alone cost more than a bike build! We decided to stay with 2 wheels only. It's probably a good idea since that was where both Joe and I had the best skills.

Randy -
Man, I hear ya!

Did you see Si's "Big John" thread a while back?
http://www.motorcyclistcafe.com/forums/showthread.php?8751-Big-John&highlight=big+john

My response mentions the body molds that still exist for both the "Texas Ceegar" streamliner, and it's big brother, "Big John", also a streamlined motorcycle, but with a V-8 car engine.
The little body ran well into the 220's with ~90 HP, and Big John ran well over 300MPH with probably 400 HP...~50 years ago! So we know the aero is good at least to those speeds. Apparently much less drag than the classic belly tank shape, stable, and no $$$$ wind tunnel & engineering development necessary.
We're considering the idea of licensing the use of the larger "Big John" body mold for someone with fiberglass (or composites) and chassis building skills who wants a (relatively) low cost ~300MPH lakester. I'm sure the "little" body mold would never be made available...too much history there.

We may want to talk with Kent along the way...it's all just talk right now.

I can imagine that a Hyabusa motor (or 2) would make it fly, Kent would definitely be the one to talk to. Wind tunnel time is getting much cheaper these days, so a trip to North Carolina might be a good investment for the prototype body... http://www.a2wt.com/

Tonight I was at a friends shop and I met the crew chief (Keith Ruxton) of the EasyRider streamliner that held the Worlds Fastest Motorcycle title for 16 years. We all BS'ed and talked about the 300 mph open wheel bike and how soon it could happen. Great conversation!
