That's Sweet. I wonder how much gas that tank holds?:eusa_drool:

Thanks, Bob. I was going for the "Then and Now" look with that one.

Looking carefully at the bike, I like the airpump on the frame tube amd the little cast-in spring adjustment handles built into the rear shocks.

I believe that is the 9 gallon "touring" tank. Indeed.

I did like the /2's, and I had a couple of them. The models I had are below with the mileage each had when I sold it.

1960 BMW R50 52,000
1962 BMW R50S 46,000
1964 BMW R69 54,000
1965 BMW R69S 52,000
1967 BMW R69S 56,000
1968 BMW R69US 58,000

I used to put on a Steib sidecar for the winter, and rode year-round in Northern Illinois.:)

I suppose I would not mind having another one, but not as an only machine, thank you. The R50S developed 40 Hp, and the R69S 42. Thank God they did not develop more - the brakes were so bad one would never be able to stop. Of the six, if I had to pick a favorite, the R50S. One hardly ever sees them - quite rare. They were never popular in the States, only in Europe due to the licensing regulations.

Thanks for the memory,
Frank
