Hi Guys!
I bought an R1200GS at the beginning of this week.
I tried the Adventure (I had actually ordered one, deposit paid in August last year) but I found it just too big and a tad too heavy as well. So after much deliberating, I decided that the ordinary GS would be the better bike for me. I collect it from our local BMW dealer on 19th April. It’s in yellow, with ABS, heated grips and clear indicator lenses. And it’ll be a beauty!
I decided that one bike had to go, and I really couldn’t part with my beautiful R850R, so I’m selling the Vespa. The R is fully tour equipped with panniers and though a three year old bike, has been lovingly cared for by me and its previous owner, and is still just like new. As my first big bike, I am very attached to it, and the 850 engine is the smoothest boxer twin. Down on power very slightly to the 1150, but much sweeter. So I’m keeping that and hoping Elaine, when she passes her test, will ride it.
I test rode both the GS and the GSA, two days on each, back to back. The GS was the easier bike to ride, less heavy, handled better. The GSA had more presence, better wind protection and was a better high speed cruiser for that alone.
I'll let you know how it goes when I bring my new bike home.
Best wishes
