Lads, you might want to check out a new micro sit (http://www.triumphadventure.com/)e Triumph set up recently. It seems the fine folks in Hinckley have responded to our prayers for something along enduro lines.
Be sure to click on the "Testing Facility" image. Let the movie load a bit.... and...

So...what is it, I mean "are they"?
675 triple based adventure & enduro versions?
I signed up for their email updates and will be watching closely!

Dave, I think it's going to be a 675 engined ADV bike. I'm thinking that would be the perfect addtion to the Tiger.

675 triple based adventure & enduro versions?...
I've been quite pleased with each of my bikes for its intended purpose ... but a 675 adventure bike would put me back in the buying market... as long as it doesn't have a seat height that needs a stepladder to mount.

Their email said it would be two bikes, thus my guess of an adventure bike & an enduro, both 675's.
Tust a guess.
God, I hope they don't call one of them the "Tiger Cub"!
Here's what the email said. Gee, I wonder where they got the idea for a protracted, drawn out hype-launch?
Thank you for signing up. Want to know a secret? Here at Triumph, we're really busy developing two brand new adventure bikes. It'll be a good few months before they're ready. But we'll send you updates as soon as more information is available, so keep a look out in your inbox. Watch this space.

I know you have a real issue with the Tiger Cub name Dave, but I'd bet that they use it. Let's face it, they've used just about every name out of the Meriden files and one or two "new twists" on old favourites too (Speed Triple - instead of Speed Twin, Rocket3 - which was a BSA, TT Legend - a handbuilt small volume T160 by Les Williams).
Of course they've mixed and matched the names to suit themselves, who would have thought we'd be touring on Trophy's and off roading on Tigers? So, yeah, steel yourself bro. The Cub is coming to getcha..

Sir Lamppost, you are a hoot!
And I know you're right but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
Any motorcycle named "Cub" should be painted pink or baby blue and have little streamers on the bar ends...maybe a little bicycle bell too.
Ding-Ding!

Honda is still building their version of the Cub.

Rog, if you decide to come out of the closet that would be a great way to do it..."Hey Boys, how do you like my Cubbie? Ding-Ding".:)

Considering Triumph was started up by a German gentleman that mix of languages couldn't be more appropriate!
Doug's right, isn't Honda's Cub the best selling two wheeler, ever? It should be, in some of the poorer paets of Europe I've seen them taking a family of four to do the grocery shopping.

Wonder how a Tiger Cub would do in The Panther's Lair (http://www.panthercity.net)? ;)

"So Dude, what do you ride?"
"I, uh...well, I ride a Cub."
"Yeah man, those little Hondas are cool...my sister has one!"
"No, no...mine is a Triumph Cub!"
"Oh. Well, those are pretty cool too man. My other sister has one."

"Do you mean the 675 Cub? The one that's named after the bike that half of Brit riders passed their tests on in the sixties?"
"Yep"
"Man those early Cubs were cool, why Joey Dunlop started his racing career on one"
"Really? I didn't know that!"
"I bet Triumph at Hinkley don't know that either, otherwise we'd probably get a bike called the Triumph Joey.."

I think that the 1st real motorcycle that I road was a Triumph Tiger Cub, prior to that was an assortment of Cushmans, mopeds and scooters.

Not to get back on the original topic..... but Cycle World is speculating this will be an 825cc triple.
They posted a speculative mock up. A tall Tiger to me. But the 825 would place this bike as a direct competitor to the F800GS.

Looks alot like a Vstrom to me. Like to see a more dirt oriented bike, spoked wheels & less body work.

Remember, they're releasing 2 models and we've only seen speculation on 1.

St. John and his boys aren't stupid and are unlikely to release something that will merely steal sales from their own Tiger 1050. The 675 is a fiesty little beast in all it's incarnations so far, but would likely be a handful on the rough.
What we could see is a 675 "Tiger Cub" (sorry Dave) for the street and a bigger softer tuned engined sister for the off road side of things.
The 675 would be in competition with 650 V-Stroms and Transalps, the 825(?) in competition with the GS800. Neither would be in competition with anything in the existing Triumph line up.
All we have to do is wait and see..
