The trip from Glen Huon in the deep South of Tasmania to Deloraine in the North of our Island State takes a little over three hours. I normally take a snack and break the journey at Campbelltown by the river at the halfway mark...

Another favorite lunch spot is the wetland reserve at Oatlands;

I told my mates that I wanted a picture of their barbeque technique to show my mates at the Motorcyclist cafe' and they hesitated. "How do we know they won't pinch our ideas?" "Just trust me. I won't do a close-up".

I found out why they called this place "Roaring Beach" on this windy day with the waves crashing on the beach...

I wonder if they loaded Huon Valley apples onto British bound ships from this shed in the old days?

This lovely little seaside village brought a smile to my face as I rode by.

Excellent JQ. The term "ride report" was coined for posts like yours. We have a Campbelltown too, well, the Scots do anyway. I've been there, it's a nice town. I'd love to visit yours to compare. Maybe one day I'll manage it :).
How's that new '80 going? It looks right at home in your pics., who needs more?
Thanks mate,
Si.

Thanks JQ I enjoyed the trip very much. The RT looks stunning what a great find. As we all seem to say to each other some day I would love to give a rap to your door and visit what is indeed a lovely country.

We would never allow this to remain standing along our coastline. The developers would offer the owners extravagant amounts on cash for their home and then force the holdouts to sell, tear it down and build condo's so you couldn't see the ocean and make it a private beach. It's the only continent I haven't been on Doug. Momma would go in a New York minute. I figure 3-4 months to see enough to say you've been there and done that with confidence. Lease a GS to do it.

JQ - that sure looks like a nice, crispy cold white wine you are enjoying in your Happy Hour. A great way to end what clearly looks like a great ride. And Bubba has it nailed. Enjoy those rides. In North America they would pave over and develop the shoreline to make ghastly gobs of money!

JQ, once again I enjoyed your trip report. Thanks.
A couple of questions if you don't mind. Do you have to travel through Hobart or do you go around it?
Also why not take A5 to Deloraine as it looks quicker or is Oatland, Campbelltown a more senic route. Thank you.

Thanks Guys,
I'll do you a deal;
You make it over here to Tassie and your accommodation here at " Fairhaven" is free of charge.... Can't beat that....
Yes Si, I've been fiiddling with the R80 and she is running like a song.... Very happy little vegemite...
Gord, I added a Canadian touch with the maple cured smoked sea trout to go with the New Zealand Sav Blanc. Bloody smart arse Kiwis can make a very drinkable white.

Jack, I can't avoid going through Hobart, but I cut through Richmond to join the Midland highway just South of Oatlands. The Midland Hwy is a high speed (110-120kmh) road while the M5 is mostly dirt but it goes through some very nice highland lake country. I do it from time to time.
The boys were very concerned I was going to pass on their rissole, (Pattie) recipe which may or may not contain wallaby mince.... sorry, can't say more....
Dave, forget the maybes..... Just be like Doug and rap on the door.... I'll put the kettle on. That goes for all of youse.
Cheers,
JQ.
