From Superbike Planet:

Last Summer, racer Allan Engel came across a box of pictures that he shot while racing and spectating in US and international races from 1967 to 1976.

We'll be adding to this amazing archive in the coming weeks, but the first five pages of his wonderful and vintage shots are here:

Some samples:

Donnie Castro, Barry Sheene and Agostini at the Ontario event 1975.

Phil Read. Four-time world champion, at Daytona in 1970. He rode a John Player Norton at the Speedway.

C'mon Si...pay attention!
Where have you been anyway?

Had to go to Halifax (West Yorkshire) for a wedding. Hey, you missed me? That's nice :).

Great pics! That Agostini fellow was a handsome devil wasn't he? The old guy still looks good (my wife tells me) now when he's pushing 70. Bastard.

Great memories too. In 1971 John Cooper had a big win at Ontario and we Brits were puzzled to find that it wasn't in Canada at all.
One day I'll tell/remind you the story of what happened after that race, it involved a youngster from Birmingham, a large hammer and some worried AMA officials!

Phil Read went to Daytona one year to partner Gene Romero on the Yamaha team. It was plain that Romero's bike was the faster one so Read demanded he be allowed to race it "As a multi World Champion".
Romero pointed out that those Championships and 50 cents would buy Read a cup of coffee at the infield cafeteria..

Please make sure you update this as the other pics become available. Ta.

Damn, I bet that Ago had the pit sweet hearts swarming all over him. They were as thick as flies back in the 70's when we raced....Life was definitely good.

Great pics Dave.
