Aussie Marcos Ambrose gets due recognition from his countrymen...the Sir Jack Brabham Award.
Ambrose is a great, smart, tough race car driver, a very nice guy and is building a large, loyal fan base in NASCAR in the States. He was twice Australian V8 Supercar Champion before coming here for NASCAR.
He has done well since he has been here but his car & team have been about "B+" at best. I almost never make predictions about motor racing but I'll go out on a limb and say that Marcos *will* win a race next season, probably one of the road races.
NASCAR "Sprint Cup" level is a very tough gig, just ask Juan Pablo Montoya and Dario Franchitti. Juan Pablo is doing very, very well and is champion caliber, and contender. Dario struggled and finally went back to IRL, where he promptly won the championship. Both apparently found F1 easier to succeed at than NASCAR!
