This conference (http://www.womenandmotorcycling.com/) begins on August 19-24th. Are there any Cafe members that are attending and plan on riding out from CA or other points?

I am going. I will most likely be leaving on Sunday, Aug 16 taking two days to travel, arriving on Aug 18, unless you guys think I should leave a day earlier and take more time! I am staying in a condo there with another forum friend from the midwest, that I will have the pleasure of meeting for the first time. :D

I have never ridden CO except for Mesa Verde area. Does anyone have route information or suggestions of roads I shouldn't miss? I believe it is nearly 1200 miles from Sacramento, and would like to keep the daily mileage around 400 so that I can do some sightseeing. Info please!!!

Help a girly rider get to the conference by way of some GREAT roads!! :remybussi:

Thanks in advance!

Okay. If you have the time.
Leave Keystone and get back on I70W.
At Frisco take 9 south to 285.
South 285 to 50.
Take 50 west thru Gunnison and pass Blue Mesa Reservoir to Montrose.
Jump on 550 south thru Ridgway, Ouray, Silverton to Durango (the million dollar highway).
Catch 160 west to Mancos.
Take 184 towards Dolores and 145 to Telluride continue on 145 to Placerville.
Jump on 62 to Ridgway and back on 550.
Now go home after some riding you won't soon forget.
Enjoy.

Thanks, Jack. I found this site on CO motorcycle roads (http://www.motorcyclecolorado.com/). Seems a good site.

I have a friend on pashnit who also suggested a couple of the roads you mentioned one being the road between Ouray and Durango also the Uncompahgre road 141. Are you talking 149 between Gunnison and South Fork to 160. This is nearly all new country to me. I have only been on the road between Dolores and Telluride, 550 which was spectacular!!

Ok...i'm excited!! :eusa_clap:

No, catch 160 west in Durango to Mancos.

But since you have already riden Dolores to Telluride in Durango take 160 east to south fork then 149 north thru Creede (neat ghost town) back to 50 then home.

And that reminds me...I haven't had a Colorado fix in a year. And that's too long!

AWKKKKKK!!!! what a bastid!!!

Here are a couple of test routes. Feedback anyone? I plan on leaving Sat overnighting in Ely, then to Moab and overnight then to Redstone, and overnight and finally in Keystone on Tuesday.

Going to Keystone, CO (http://tinyurl.com/qa83jr)

Coming home, I have yet to figure in my overnights. Probably Keystone to Durango overnight then to Torry, then to Panaca, then home. I am unsure of this route yet since I don't have it in the GPS to see the distances. It could be a bit ambitious. :whistle

Coming Home from Keystone, CO (http://tinyurl.com/pfqenm)

I am open for suggestions and discussion!!! Help me, man! :scratch
