We just had 2 cops given tickets for going 149, and 147 respectively, on I-70 in my county(Licking County). They got the max fine of $150, and a 6 month license suspension. They were off the clock on their sport bikes.

A few weeks ago I sold my wife's Honda Ruckus to a judge from the Tempe, AZ Justice Court [edit: Maricopa County Justice Court]. He told me ticket speeds of 100 mph or higher are an automatic 48 hours in jail when the scofflaw comes before him.
I tried to persuade him that 100 mph was safe on a modern bike but he said others had tried that in his court already and it didn't work. Seems the judge got tired of squid sport bikers showing up in front of him and decided to become the "Hangin' Judge Parker" of the traffic courts. Hisshonor likes bikes and scooters, he just doesn't like people doing 100 mph and weaving in an out of traffic on the freeway.

"Tempe Justice Court" - I was subpoenaed for jury duty there once - it was the most bullshit "court" I have ever seen - in a little srip mall that was otherwise mostly deserted. When I got there the clerk told me, "didn't you get my message, we don't need any jurors today". Complete fucking barney Fife operation.
That said, people like the "hanging judge" and Sheriff Joe are probably the thin blue line that holds that place back from total anarchy.

Well it could be argued that moronic application and interpretation of the law brings the entire legal system into disrespect which can also lead to total anarchy. I have absolutely no respect for our "street racing law" in Ontario that gives the police the ability to seize my personal property with no recourse to a judge or jury or no right of appeal. Just one more step towards Ontario becoming a police state, and it seems to me we fought wars to get rid of those kinds of governments.
Not that I am making a political statement or anything. Just observing!

Didn't take too long for that whole east coast superiority thing to take full effect did it??
Given the way things seem to be proceeding, total anarchy is starting to sound like a viable alternative.

Sorry Bob, I misspoke (or mis-typed). Just checked the business card. It was the Maricopa County Justice Court, not the Tempe court. Probably still in a strip mall but the destination jail would belong to Sheriff Joe. I knew a guy who had done time in the Federal pen and he said it was easier time there than time he'd done with Sheriff Joe's boys.
Come to think of it, I should carry that business card in my wallet with my driver's license.

Oh one thing I forgot was that there was a third guy, but they were not able to clock him.
It is a kind of rural stretch of interstate that doesn't have a huge amount of traffic on Sat and Sun mornings.

I have been informed by the 98th District Court in Ironwood, Michigan that I owe that state US$150.00 for being the only vehicle (other than the trooper who caught me) on a stretch of Hwy. #2 that was travelling at an excessive rate of speed. I guess he had to teach me a lesson so that I would slow down when I hit more heavily trafficked stretches of road. I will pay the fine, but only because I am likely to pass through Michigan again and would hate to be held up due to outstanding warrants!

Screw that...go around it or have the Wife drive. Do that for 7 years and your good to go.
Harry, I hope they hold off on the anarchy, I don't have near enough ammo to hold any one off for long. :pot:

I have all the ammo I need thanks, but it's not buried in the yard.
5 rounds of what I'm told is the most lethal bullet design sold legally. (I think legally...not sure?)
I only have one gun, one you gun boys will probably laugh at...a Charter Arms .38 Special, 5-shot revolver. I do know how to use it and would in a heartbeat if it is ever required. And then feel badly about it the rest of my life.
I don't feel the need for 2 guns in every room, ammo enough to stock a rebellion...or any paranoia about the black helicopters searching for my little pistol.
I do however, believe in "self-fulfilling prophesies" and "the law of unintended consequences". Such as have apparently occurred over the last several months as the price of ammo has skyrocketed while supplies & availability plummet, all fueled by wild-eyed, spittle-slinging email & post rumors of 500% ammo taxes ("We can't get your guns, so we'll get your bullets!!"), and the fear of gun-grabbing "libtards" hiding behind every rock & bush ("We're gonna get your guns anyway!!").
I suppose ammo hoarders have all Googled "Law of supply & demand" by now, but dismissed it since Al Gore made it up. Probably.
But what do I know about it anyway, being just a "naive" libtard...?
EDIT: Oh Don...I didn't vote for "O". I voted for McCain, and twice for "W" (to my eternal regret).
No reason to laugh at that Charter Arms .38 Dave. Like they say, its not the arrow, its the Indian. I have slightly more than one firearm, including one similar to your Charter Arms .38. A little S&W 642 with its Crimson Trace grips is my American Express gun.

I used to work with a guy that was a federal officer. When he bought a new Glock for his concealed undercover gun, he sold me his old one (CA38).

Nah, mine's a blue one.
Funny story involving that gun:
Some Celanese Chemical work buds & I used to make an annual pilgrimage ride to Big Bend and camp out.
A new co-worker was one Rainer Hundertmark, a mid-management level "exchange student", part of a program the Uber Krauts from our new parent company, Hoechst AG started ("Ve vill not interfere vith your already very successful operations & sales, ve are only here to provide financing & other resources." Yeah right. This same company - under another name - provided cyanide gas to the WWII death camps. They did not like to talk about that DNA...)
Rainer was a rider and a very cool guy, we became close friends. He had ridden Yamahas(!) in Germany and wanted to get a bike while he was here in the U.S. It was supposed to be 1 year, he managed to stretch it to 3 and wanted to stay permanently).
I asked him what he wanted to get so I could help him, he said a Yamaha. I told him, "You are a German guy in the United States, so you must get either a BMW or a Harley Davidson! He wanted a HD but could not afford it, so we found him a very nice R100RT and he was happy.
And he went with us on our next Big Bend ride. He was absolutely enthralled by all things Texas...cowboys, Indians, cattle, oil wells, all that. And totally thrilled to be going to the nearest thing there still is to the "Wild West."
The first night at BB, we were camping in a private campground and after dinner, were sitting around the campfire, sipping Crown Royal and BS'ing. In those pre-concealed carry permit days, many of us took handguns in our tank bags, figuring it was better to be in big trouble but alive, than being a law-abiding but dead citizen. I don't care what anybody tells you...there are some very dangerous places down there and always have been, even before the drug cartel "wars".
So I asked one of our guys, Paul, if he had brought a weapon. He said, yes, he had his little nickel plated .25 auto in his tank bag (strange choice, given he has a collection of over 200 pistols!).
Paul then asked me if I was packin'. I said I was. Now Rainer's eyes had been growing steadily larger through all this and he blurted out, "Dave! You have a pistol??" I replied I had my .38 revolver in my tankbag.
Rainer, filled with wonder and amazement said very dramatically, "Is it a 6-shooter?"
I said, "No, it's a small one and only holds 5 rounds."
"Oh," he replied very seriously, "a 5-shooter!"
Everyone just laughed their asses off at this, much to poor Rainer's chagrin. So for the rest of the trip, and the remainder of Rainer's U.S. tenure, whenever there was potential trouble, someone would say, "Howe, get that 5-shooter, quick!"
Rainer explained that in Germany private citizens are not allowed to own hand guns. Pretty ironic since when Rainer was serving his mandatory military service, he was expected to keep his full auto assault rifle in the closet of his apartment! Cool...
Damn, I just remembered another good Rainer pistol story, maybe I'll post it sometime.
