I hope that never happens. We can come up with lots of good reasons not to use it, but if the government decides it, then we (as riders) are stuck with it? I would think they need to implement that across the board - not only for motorcycles (and I'm not saying that I like the idea). One part of road that I ride on for my daily commute is posted 65mph, and the average speed is around 80. I'd get run over!

I'm surprised they haven't used some sort of GPS tracking on vehicles to automatically issue speeding tickets as you speed - it would be a great revenue generator! Maybe one ticket allowed per minute of speeding?:104:

Something is clearly developing here as reports like this have been appearing too often to be completely groundless. But, and it's a very big but, what has not been explained is exactly how "they" intend to slow or restrict the vehicle(s) concerned.
It would be simple enough to build into the fuel injection ECU of a new car or bike (trucks over here are already restricted) but how do you restrict an existing vehicle? Especially one that has points ignition and carbs?- better hang on to that Norton Commando, one day it'll be faster than a new R1!!!
The traffic chaos that would follow all vehicles being restricted would be crazy. Trucks, as I said, are restricted to 60mph. Naturally some are still a fraction quicker than others, so when a trucker who has scraped up to a dizzy 62mph catches his buddy who has topped at at 59mph he pulls out to pass................ thus blocking the overtaking lane. Sometimes for miles. The congestion caused has to be seen to be fully appreciated!
Who knows where all this will end up? One thing for sure, there's nowt so daft as a bureaucrat with the "speed kills" wind behind him!
Lets enjoy what freedom we have left..............

Down under if they were to try and bring something like this in..which they might...the motorcycle association would fight it because it's discrimination against bikes...the would say.."if it's good enough for bikes..it's good enough for cars also".."don't just pick on motorcycles"...but then they just might do that..pick on everyone!...afterall..think of the revenue.
