I met a very nice man last year at Maxton as he was unloading a beautiful little race car called a Crosley. This car was finished off with the finest detailing I had ever seen on a LSR car. The car is powered by a 45 ci 4 cylinder motor and is only capable of top speeds around a 100mph. I was surprised at the level of workmanship put into a car that's not extremely fast by today's standards, but thought... "To each his own". I saw the car race both times I was at Maxton last year and ran into the car in Bonneville in August.

This past weekend, I saw the owner and car at Maxton again, but there was a difference I noticed from last year. The difference wasn't in the car, but in my own perception of the car. (Things had changed for me in the time past since I had last seen the car, but that's another story not suitable for this forum.) I observed the "Roman's" above the car number 1010 and told the owner I was familiar with the passage. He offered to tell me the story of the car and we sat down to talk.

Needless to say, his story was very moving and I found out the car was born from personal heartache, love and a committment to greater things.

Without going into an area usually not discussed on this forum, I would invite you to visit his website. The man's name is Gerald Davenport and he lives near me in Paducah Kentucky.
