I read your post revisions.
The closest anything has ever been to actually being "banned" here was the word "banned" itself. The old board we emigrated from was more prone to "ban" and it was distasteful to us. That was actually one of the reasons this board was founded.
And it's not that political discussions are "not allowed" either, really. More just by mutual agreement.
It's just that way back when, the founders of this site agreed we would steer away from religion & politics, as both subjects almost always lead to divisiveness and ill feelings. There is seldom a "winner", but often a "loser".

Both right & left leaners will occasionally "slip one in", but it usually just dies on the vine.
NoRRmad often calls us on it, no matter which "side" starts it...and that's a good thing.
