I read about these items on gixxer.com but there is so much nonsense in the posts I really can't tell what is the straight answer.

Facts: 2006 GSX-R 600 with full Leo Vince exhaust (no cat conv) and and free(r) flowing air filter...no other performance mods.

Bike seems to run very good with the new exhaust although I haven't been to the track yet this year. In fact I've only rode it about 15 miles with the new stuff added. It makes sense that something that would optimize your air to fuel ratio (as this item claims to do) would improve (albeit slightly) performance.

Input welcome.
Thanks.

With the exhaust and filter the bike will run a bit better...IF....it's rejetted/remapped. The new exhaust/filter really won't "optimize" the air/fuel ratio, but rather allow better exhaust gas scavenging.
By that I mean, during the running of a 4 cycle/5 event reciprocating engine, there is a time during the intake cycle that BOTH the exhaust and intake valve(s) are open. The outgoing spent gases(exhaust) will pull more fresh charge(fuel/air) into the cylinder. Differential pressure is our friend.

The header will allow the gases to exit faster, creating more differential pressure. That's why you always need to rich en it up with the addition of a high performance exhaust. If they say " no rejet/MAP" needed there will be no performance gains as the charge remains the same and the only mod you made was noise. If you add an exhaust without modifying the fuel charge you risk a severe lean condition which can cause a litany of very bad things to happen to your engine.

Clear as mud right?

We allowed the engine to draw in more air, so we need to add fuel. The A/F ratio remains the same.
