Funny how the warm weather brings out the cruiser crowd. Overall we've had a mild winter and the other bikes I've seen during my winter commute has been normal - hardly anyone else! This morning it was in the 60's (with a projected high in the mid 70's!! ) and saw about 5 other bikes in the first 5 minutes of my commute. All cruisers! Too bad they only enjoy the nice weather and not the joys of year 'round riding!

last month I picked up a 'stich and Gerbings, and I've been riding ever since. My setup has me good down to about 20 degrees @ 85 mph. :028:

I like being the only bike on the road.

Even with the salt and the slush?

Down South, where it's not all that hard to ride all year, most still don't. The first really nice spring-like days bring out both the fair weather riders and the gnats (a.k.a. no-see-ums).

Very shortly thereafter, the first motorcycle deaths of the year will show up in the newspapers.

'Round, like a circle in a spiral,
like a wheel within a wheel.

Ain't life grand! Or at least interesting.

Often the former, always the latter!

I'm hoping that all the dirt and muck I haven't cleaned off from last summer keeps the salt at bay. :icon_redface:

Optimus,
My setup has me able to commute down to some pretty low temps, but my commute is only about 30 minutes. If it were a lot longer and I may not ride is as cold temps. My personal lowest temp is 13F. Things started getting cold that day!

As for the salt and stuff, We drive our cars in it right? GS's don't have a problem with it right? A good spring cleaning will be coming soon.

I have a weekly business trip that is about 300 miles one way, I've done that down to 20 degrees. Shorter rides are easier. God Bless Gerbing :eusa_clap:

However, I do think my heated grips are crapping out on me. I can barely tell there on, even when set to high.

By definition, living in Los Angeles makes me a fair weather rider. Some nights going home the temps are in the low 40's high 30's (F). Whats this salt everyone talks about? Condiment accidents?

Lately I will still ride my commute as long as it is not actually raining when I leave the house. That said, today they predicted intermitant rain up to an inch per hour, it was sunny in the morning & I drove. I think I've been "rained" out less no more than 4 times this season for my commute.

Saturday night we have snow predicted in Los Angeles down to 1,500 ft. I live just below that, so if things get freaky & I get an inch or two on the lawn I'll wake the kids at 3:00 am. If nothing else, the local mountains should look prety on Sunday.

The last big snowfall in LA was in 1949, they got 3 or 4 inches that stuck in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, I was born in 1958.

I'm like Rob in that here in Phoenix the weather is very cooperative for year round riding. I ride in the rain here, in Thunder storms, and even on the days its in the 30's...both of them. I ride in the 100 plus heat, all geared up too.
I did however live in Portland Oregon for 6 years, and I DID ride all year round there also. Only time I parked the bike was when it snowed. I've done enough rain riding to last me a life time. That's why I moved back home to AZ.
You guys that ride with temps in the 20's and below, got way bigger hevoes than I have, my hats off to you.
