I was waiting to invite a bunch of buds to join the Cafe until the site was fully developed, or at least until we had enough content to make it interesting to someone who hadn't been a part of the recent revolution at the 50R site.

Well, we may not be fully developed with logos, images, organization, etc. but we sure as hell have some content here now so last week I pulled the trigger and started inviting these birds. I see now that 6 of them have signed up...that's all I recognize from their Profiles, could be more I guess, some of them are pretty sneaky.

Most are members of our Friday night Peckerhead Motorcycle Racing Team "beer, BS bench racing & stogies" group but each is a genuine Peckerhead in his own way! It other-words, they are in the right place here at the Cafe. These are some pretty interesting cats and I hope they are active participants so you can enjoy their unique personalities & backgrounds.

To the new guys: Please fill out your Profiles with as much info as you are comfortable with (what do you ride?), introduce yourselves and sign your posts with your real name (Pistol may be an exception to this...for a reason). This is a very friendly place, we're all on a first name basis and we've found this familiarity really helps set and maintain the friendly tone that I think you'll like. Virtually no "rules", no Moderators (we were moderated to death at the old place), we just sort of self-police when required - almost never - and keep it like it would be if we were sitting around a table having a beer, or around the campfire at a rally sharing outrageous riding stories. A great place to be.

To the old guys: A quickie intro on these boys.
Illuminator - Randel Bird. He will alternately piss you off & delight you! And challenge your thinking. I can't wait to see him and Lance on the same thread!
Jomarti - John Martin. Ask him about the time he ran over a Rattlesnake on his hotrod FXRT!
Landshark - Daniel Peirce. He camera, will travel. His images have appeared on this Cafe before. He took the great shots of my Norton.
Road Dog - Dual Sport adventurer extraordinaire. Lowly husband of Beemerchick who is a genuine "piece of work"! I hope she signs up too.
The Rev - Bill Howe. No relation. OK, he's my son. A long haired guitar playing, song writing son-of-a-gun who runs the best website going on B-29's, the WWII air war in the Pacific, China-Burma-India, Tinian Island...and gathering place for many of the Old Eagles remaining from that era. Link on his profile.
Wild Will - Will Guyan. Wild Will O' the West. Escaped the dreary life of a Pennsylvania plumber for a wild, free life as a stonemason/house & fireplace builder, hippie, father, raconteur, road burner, explorer, skinny-dipper and personal confidant to La Tigressa in the Redwood Country of Northern Cali.
Pistol - George Tuttle. One of my very best buddies. Rides his MV Augusta F4, FJR1300, Norton & Triumphs about like he flew the F-4s & F-16s. A great wing-man.

That's all except to say I am continually honored to be a part of the Cafe, and the group named above (which will grow). Getting these two groups together is a big day for me!

Hey, Ofrogg!

Glad to see ya' here. Sometimes *migration* is good for the soul...

How are things on the ol' R1150R board these days?

Cheers!

Allan (Dalalra - NACD)

p.s. Hey, Dave... If "Pistol" has a good reason he needs not to sign his name, how come you gave it out in your post above? (George Tuttle) :037:

"...p.s. Hey, Dave... If "Pistol" has a good reason he needs not to sign his name, how come you gave it out in your post above? (George Tuttle)..."

Nothing devious going on here...George's USAF fighter pilot 'tactical' name was Pistol and most people prefer to use that over George. I think Pistol does too. I'm sure he'll answer to either!

Welcome aboard Ofrogg...post early & often!

Oh, I didn't think there was anything "devious" or nefarious about it. I just thought you might have had a tiny bit of brain fade there... :002:

God only knows I am having more and more brain fade these days!

Anyway, I just wanted to point it out quick so you could correct it with edit had it been a slip-up.

Cheers!

Welcome!

If I said more than that - I would be into defining what I meant and that would limit the welcome.

There is plenty of 'road' for all of us - what ever you ride, may have ridden, or want to ride.

Greetings and thanks Dave for the invitation.

For those who don't know us I'm Bill Keating. I've been riding for 38 years now. I am a reformed Harley and BMW rider. I used to drag race iron Sportsters and gave up on Harleys when they're price per smile got too high. I've got a couple of airheads in the garage that are getting a little long in the tooth. The new frigging beemers, among other things are too ugly, not that there is anything wrong with that. We have a garage full of bikes and none of them see a battery charger. The FZ1 and KLR get most of my attention these days.

We both enjoy restoring bikes. Laura used to race motocross and has restored my old R90S parts bike. She probably won't be on this list, she pays attention to the R90S list. This forum might be a little challenging for her. Buttons of any kind puzzle her. We used to spend 10 minutes before and after a ride when she was pushing buttons trying to get the MP3 player to turn on or off. I thought things would be better with an IPod. One button, how can you go wrong? So now we spend 10 minutes pushing the one button.

I am proud to call myself a Peckerhead and really enjoy the riders I have met in the NTNOA organization. I enjoy these groups because they have more seasoned sportsmen who enjoy the wrenching as much as the riding. I guess another way to say this is these groups have very few boutiqie riders.

At any rate the old hide has just finished adjusting her new S2R Monster to fit her butt. So now she will start restoring her Penton. I've got the RD400 on the bench pressure testing the engine - it don't look good.

I am happy to be here and I hope this can grow into a notable forum with fewer bouitique riders.

Just when I think it can get no worse...BoxerBruce shows up, another Peckerhead! Ex-Navy, that explains most of it...
Bruce has a 1 man airhead shop in Arlington, Texas...if anyone needs airhead work, he's your man!
He'll also let you bum a smoke.

Your fine red 50R looks the tits with the black wheels.
My black 50R has red wheels.
I didn't know they came that way?

What a motley and eclectic bunch of peckerheads. (Hmmm... Can peckerheads be eclectic? Or is bugshit the more correct term?)

Hell, who cares. I'm just glad to meet you guys. Stick around.

"Peckerheads" are eclectic by nature and by defintion, and motley by choice.
"Bugshsit"?!

And a big Peckerhead welcome to my Italiano Brother Fabry! You guys are gonna like this cat...

While the term "bugshit" has many definitions, the one most commonly intended is: "Crazy, but in a thoughtful and clever sort of way. A notch or two up from curmudgeonly."
