First a crash, now lost my job.

2006 isn't looking to be one of those classic years... :(

Damn Rice, that sucks *and* blows!

I crashed my 50R 4-1/2 years ago, one week after 9-11. This was after I had been unemployed for 9 months and things were pretty sucky here.
5 weeks later I got the job I have now.
You never know...

Come here often for moral support & BS.

Dave

Riceman,

First, how are you doing physically? Haven't heard much on that score so I hope you're doing better to fine.

Just think of this as a mini - retirement. You'll to back in the saddle and working before you know it.

James - I am really sorry to hear this bad news! As Dave/Darth said, come here often for support. We will always be here with bikes, jokes, and (as long as I'm around) pretty girls - so come and cheer up and let us know how you are doing.

Best of luck!

Damn!

Truly bad news RiceCooker. What happened?

As others have said, good luck and take care, and know you can come here to let your hair down and vent, as well as get support.

I know I'm pulling for ya', Rice... And everybody else is, too. Something tells me you're not the type to stay down long, and that before you know it you'll have a better bike and a better job!

Take care!

I'm really sorry to hear of your bad luck lately.
I've not had to deal with the crashes that you've had(Thank God), but I know what unemployment feels like. As reported earlier, It SUCKS.

You know, over the years I've done everything from cleaning septic tanks(I don't share that with everyone) to truck mechanic to real estate developer. For me, it has always been better to stay busy, even if it meant doing a job that I thought was beneath me.

Newton's law about objects in motion tend to stay in motion, objects not in motion tend to......, you get the idea.

Take what you can find for now, something better is right around the corner, I'm sure.

Keep us posted, please.

Good luck!

Cheers for the happy thoughts guys. :) It means a lot.

I can't really say much about it at present (it will become clear in time). But it's seriously fucked up our lives, my wife can't support us both in our rented place so we may well have to move. :( Not good because although we were thinking of moving soon we weren't really expecting to do it this month!! I can't even make the Visordown.com Memorial Meet (which I started 5 years ago) because we may well need the time to sort out property and furniture storage etc. I can't afford to get another bike despite the 9 grand insurance payout I'm expecting to get in the next month or so. :(

I have 2 bikes in the garage, but both need a fair bit of work (and money) to get running. Will do my best though. Haven't ridden a bike since my accident and am beginning to wonder if I ever will again. :(

Hey ho though. Applied to about 8 or 9 jobs since I left the place, hopefully something will come up.

Rice - I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. The good news is, you are still around to wake up tomorrow and have breakfast. And with each new day, comes new opportunities and new hopes. Here's hoping that you encounter a return to normalcy sooner rather than later!

At least you're here to tell the tale. On the bright side, things can only get better!

Hang in there, bud.

RiceBurner, I can't say anything that already hasn't been said, but would like to say that a lot of us have been down that "dusty trail", Life can take some very strange turns, but you can't let it get you down, I for one, think that there is meaning in the madness, Life is a wonderful thing and you have to go out and grab it, you sound as though you are pretty young, maybe you could try some schooling, or the Military is another option, (there are some great opportunties there). I really wish I could be of more help, as i know being out of work can be devastating, Think Positive!! Attitude is a big part of it. Den

Young?? Naive maybe, but I'm nearly 33. :D Military option is out because I'm not A1 (no anterior cruciate ligaments in my right knee - bike crash).

RiceCrisper,

Um, I don't know how to tell you this, but I'm thinking that the Cafe harbors a bunch of folk who are convinced that 33 IS young. At least from their own advanced states of age...

Keep on keepin' on. Something's bound to turn up.

Dallara

Well...

33 IS young... But 50 can be young, too... or even 60... Depends on how ya; use the time.

However, as a famous man once said...

"Honey, it's not the age... It's the mileage."

I think some of us here have bounced, and even broke down, on some rather rough roads... physically that is... well, emotionally, too most likely.

Anyway, like we used ot say in moto-cross... When in doubt, GAS IT! Better to fly over the rough spots than to crash through them!

Cheers!

Hope things are getting better. It is true that the down times make the good times that much sweeter. As Jimmy Buffet, the singer says in one of my favorite songs "He went to Paris",

"Some of its magic, some of its tragic, buts its been a good life all the way"

And 33 is still plenty young to me.
