is apparantly 10 characters. When did this come about??
I can see the reasoning (I think) but am curious as to why we're being unfair to the monosyllabic majority?

Yeah, there is a min & max number of characters. 10 min and I think 1000 max.
It won't let you just reply "yes" or "cool" and I've had to break up a couple of stories into 2 posts.
Seems a bit goofy to me...

I hit the same thing yesterday, my reply was too short.
Seems to me it should be a configuration setting as I'm sure I've seen other boards where a simple '+1' reply isn't uncommon. Maybe we could lower the minimum.

Geez Harry...they let me in...the minimuns are already lowered:037:
But seriously...I agree.

Minimum characters per post just set to two. The next post will be a test.

Worked. Two characters would seem to be as terse as one might get, no?

The max number of characters is 10,000. Do we need to increase it? If so, how much? Double, triple?

I've bumped into the max limit twice and just broke my post into 2 parts.
So I don't see how it's effective, even with us windbags.

Dave,
Word has it that you hold your breath while you type. So, I think the max limit is a safety issue. Unless of course you wear that magnificant cone in your avitar while seated at the keyboard. In which case, your noggin is obviously safe from impact, were you to pass out in the middle of one of those great stories.

Harry, I wear that cone helmet all the time!
Actually, I do wear it around town every year or so just for shits & grins...drives the cops absolutely nuts!
And it's kind of OK up to about 40 MPH when it suddenly does a violent "tank slapper" oscillation!

I just upped the limit to 30,000 characters per post. Dave, see if this is better.

I'm not sure what the effect of increasing the field size to that degree will have on performance. I'd advise caution. Just a thought.

I agree on the caution, I can just see some drive by cut n paste slaming something that would eat lots of band width. My gut feeling, being a total computer dummy is that too high a limit would bump into some sort of safety concerns.
