Hi Dano,
Damn it ! Do you have to rub it in? My R's battery just went belly up when we had the most beautiful day out here in the midwest. Crap! Waiting for the new one to arrive. :D

The winter in Montana has been unbelievably mild. 20-45F almost every day since late November with less than 0.75" of precipitation.

But I've only put on a grand total of 300mi. I NEED new tires, but haven't been able to spare the money, (damn this homeownership!)

I can say "damn" here? Praise the Lord!

It isn't the cold here, because it has been in the low to mid 40s for the last month or so. But it has been raining for a total of 27 days (and counting).

One thing I've noticed is that my night vision, never very good, is worse in the rain. It is dark when I go to work and dark when I leave. And usually pretty wet. I've pretty much put the R away for a while, ever since the person in the van behind me who wasn't keeping a good following distance had to slam on the brakes and veer sharply to the right up over the curb to avoid mashing me from behind. Her eyes in the mirror were as large as dinner plates. I think my heart rate has returned to normal by now.

Vernal equinox where are you?

arkline, glad you're ok!. today is back to normal for pgh; 32 and sleet. wind is blowing, 45mph or so at times...begrudgingly parked the R in the garage.

I really am sorry you guys up North have to deal with winter with the snow and slush and salt. But don't move South, OK? (Fganger excepted, of course.) It's too damn crowded already! Just kiddin'. Really.

I just missed out on several days with highs in the 70's while the bike was having problems. (See the Battery Thread) Finally got that figured out and so now it's barely in the 40's and blowin' a freakin' gale from the NW.

Down here, though, it will pass. Trust me though, we'll pay for it come summer.

Hang tough, you guys.

Wish I could send you some of our weather. Four of the October '05 Big Bend group rode from Houston to New Braunfels and Fredericksburg (Texas Hill Country) last weekend. Mornings were a nippy 45, afternoons a sunny 75.

I know you are happy for us (#@!&#!)

Ride safe, Lewis

Ron, I just returned from your GREAT State, and you are not kidding about the rain, I was out in Sequim, where it was more of a drizzle, and did get some ridding in, but over in seattle it was wet!!. I did get a chance this time to stop in at South Sound BMW Looks like a great store. Den

I know what you are all talking about. I live just north of Tiajuana. 54 for a low this morning with a high expected near 70 with clear skies. I don't know how I'm going to work myself up for a ride in this miserable weather. :ip:

I almost covered 400 miles today. From Wetumpka (near Montgomery) to Mobile, Alabama and back. (At 34 cents per mile at that). Mostly Interstate droning, but it's still better on a bike.

It was 35 when I left home. I wish I'd left the liner in my jacket and over pants! Hmmmm, perhaps I should have even used my warmest gloves. But it was managable.

As I started home it peaked at about 66.

Nice.

I didn't need to know that! Yeah, I feel for you DJ. At least we can layer up and use our electric liners!

Near Pgh? great!
Weather's not too bad lately. Someday when the weather really clears perhaps we can do a ride. a friend of mine has a montauk (he lives a bit south of the city; i'm near the airport). he has to be carefull---his wife still doesn't know he has a bike! this necessitates changes of clothes, a storage facility, etc. Don't know how he does it. I think my girlfriend is happy to get me outta the house for hours at a time in the summer..

We need to send DJ to St. Paul to interview the scooter guy........that seems like the reasonable thing to do......BTW, the scooter guy writes well:)
