I'm not sure if I've posted this elsewhere close by before...here goes anyhow.
If you're drinking a coffee or any beverage for that matter, I suggest you put it down before you spill it on the keyboard.

Amazing how disciplined those drivers are :eusa_clap: I haven't seen a single vehicle making a sudden change of lane or running over the white lane etc.
Let me tell you this: bring this guy to LA, I give him less than 5 min to be dead, twice!

Nice -

I bet the widest thing on that bike were the GIANT CAJONES of the rider! It was filmed in Japan - earth to TorqueMonster, was that you???

Dave - That was definitely Japan - could tell by the combination of Kanji ideograms coupled with hiragana and katekana orthography. Could well be the Tokyo area. They neglected to plan any highways there during WWII reconstruction, so when the economy exploded, the only place to build the highways was to elevate them above waterways, mailnly canals and inlets from Tokyo bay. That gives the highways that narrow, elevated and surreal look, as they are sometimes a few stories higher than the city streets.

Man oh man the Japanese word for divine wind come to mind.
Didn't look like other bike riders kept up with him.

Whoa!!! That dude is way braver than me.
Is it me or did anyone else hear the distintive click of a mirror clicking off of someone else's mirror?

Actually, I think the camera made the space between vehicles look narrower than it really is. Looked to be about the normal space to split traffic in, my observations on the rider are:

- I do think he knocked a mirror early on, Not cool.
- I would have been splitting at lower speed in about all of those conditions
- I thought he was rude to fellow riders, right up their ass, and towards the end he made some passes where I half expected the rider in front to start splitting too, resulting in an accident.
- The very fact the rider had a camera, IMHO, makes them want to hot dog it. I bet that rider does not ride that aggresively without the camera.

IMHO, when splitting lanes, I have to be very careful regarding bikes coming up behind me. Its very likely when splitting lanes and you see a bike in the fast lane, they will pull in front of you to start splitting themselves. So I regard other bikes as very high danger status, something this rider just seemed to ignore. A few weeks ago I started to take an inside line on a freeway transition ramp & a rider came up the same line at 60 plus mph, I noticed him shortly enough before I would have taken his space that it made me stop & think. Would have been my "fault", but he should have seen me sliding over also. Its just so easy to focus all attention ahead of you when splitting.

This video reminds me what work lane splitting is. Try splitting traffic for 30 or 40 miles at 25mph. Depends on your frame of mind as to whether its a chore or fun.

No, that wasn't me, but it is Tokyo. He passed right by my appartment building.

This was all inner city highway. I never take these as the drivers are less attentive. You also have to pay to enter the highway.

I do lane split very similar to this guy without the rudeness or mirror cracking techniques. Generally, I ride about 10% off of this guys pace.

The difference is that on surface streets there are literally hundreds of scooters and other bikes. Also, the taxi drivers tend to change lanes a lot to pick up fares.

Guys on a 50cc scooters are much faster than me.

I have to say that what this guy is doing is normal here in Tokyo. He takes a few more risks than I do, but he is not the worst of the worst.

Remember if you're looking at the speedo that the figures are KM's not Miles.

Looks like a typical London run to me - done similar many times. I'd say the other drivers were reasonably well behaved but surprised that moto about half-way through pulled over - he wasn't going any slower than the camerabike.

Sorry, I just don't have such strong faith in my fellow motorists. I'd have chosen a different route altogether. As a wise man once opined, "They can't hit you if you're not there."

Wow - that guy was good! To keep that pace for that long in that tight traffic. Something I couldn't do. I think he may need to move closer to work though.

Kind of looked like a video game for a while - it seemed like he kept passing the same cars and trucks!
