Hey guys great site. I used to be new2BMW but this gives me a chance to update my handle.
Good place, good people = good times.
Anyway, I am having lunch with Al (Boxermania) today and we are going to the BMW shop to discuss rentals. There will be a road trip in the coming weeks!
Welcome aboard.
How great is this, the far east checks in. I spent a couple of years outside of Yokohama in the mid 60's. Nineteen years old, in the Navy, stationed in Japan, life couldn't have been any better.

Jeff,
Great to have you on board what is destined to be THE major resource of the motorcycling world. You are one of the few I have missed from Doug's Board who have not yet checked in. The “Not Yet Checked In” list is getting shorter. R1150R, from Africa, and DJ, from Down under, have checked in and are posting up a storm already.
Just remember that the guys making all of this work (Ron, Abhijeet, Not the mole Bob, and Ken) are not done yet. However, they have done an amazing job in a short period of time. So as Dallara, the man who gave us the vision and remains our guiding light, says “you have to walk around all the construction a bit carefully right now.”
This is just too cool, I can't stop smiling,
Frank :D

Thanks guys. I'd been away from the boards for about 6 weeks due to my Dads declince. When I came back, I found many of the interesting people had moved. I wasn't sure if I was the reason. (My parents moved once when I was at school, but I found them anyway!)
I like the fresh air here at the new place.

Jeffery me boy...
So very glad to have you aboard!
Been meaning to email you but was waiting until our "new baby" was just a bit more presentable with logos, images, lots of good stuff.
We're brand new so give us a bit of time and keep talking that torque-trash.
I'm sure you FULLY understand that quote with that fine MT-01 in the barn!
"A horsepower motor is fun some of the time,
but a torque motor is fun ALL the time!"

Thanks Daxe.
I was away anyway. It was surprising to see so many people ditching the other place. I'm not sure what all went on, but I think it all started with a really good story about a Honda with strange pistons.
Frankly, I hope Allan tells it again. If he does, I'll save it this time.
Anyway, it is nice to find a bunch of people with a common thread in their life that are easy to relate to.

Hey Jeff -
I lived as an expat in Yokohama from 1985 to 1987. We didn't have the Internet in those days so I was pretty out of touch with all things American. Cool that you can live over there and still be part of our comunity - and that you can ride that incredible bike! Can you split lanes? I got tagged by automated speed traps in my Nissan Skyline (wish I still had that car) more than once.
Ohayo gozaymasu - have a bento box and Sapporo draft for me!

Jeff -
Re the probs with the old board...
"...I think it all started with a really good story about a Honda with strange pistons..."
That was really only a small part of it but sort of became the "poster child" for the revolt.
Lots more to it but it's all over now and best discussed over a Sake or two.
Welcome home buddy!
Dave
