A first few pictures from the event. Debbie and I met up with Jamming and MrPoopinshoe (I just write the name, I didn't chose it) at the 24th Annual Antique bike meet in Phoenix this morning. I shot about 350 photos so I've got a lot of editing and fiddling to do before I post the final selections on-line but for your viewing pleasure here's a few for starters:
Roger & MrPNS standing by what the placard said was Dean's first motorcycle, a 1931 H-D. Apparently, according to the data, Dean bought it new in '31 and he Wild Will headed off to begin their adventures.

I'm guessing they took turns riding pillion:

The current owner of the bike even had Dean's original sales receipt. Now that's provenance!

Had a great time. Here's a few of my shots. I'm SURE Doug's are way better.
Here's our intrepid photog taking the pic of John and myself by Dean's bike. In that pic you see my camera..I was using it :)

The Brough Superior is one of the rarest motorcycles there are. They are the Rolls Royce of the vintage motorcycles. There were only about 3000 produced in a 17 year period. It is also one of my favorites.

This is a 1939 SS80 Special

Sometimes the bikes ridden in are better than the show. This is a /7 Airhead motor. Paralever Oilhead/Transmission/Rear Drive and K-Bike Tank and body work. All done by Omar Sayied of MotoGhost. www.motoghost.com (http://www.motoghost.com). We had an interesting conversation.

Good pics boys, I bet it was a great show !
Rog, I share your affection for the Brough Superior. They actually had permission from Rolls Royce to use that ad slogan, "The Rolls Royce of Motorcycles". I once got to ride a very early model, totally perfect. I nearly put it in a fence, but that's another story !
I'm sure you know Brough Superior was the favorite of T.E. Lawrence, "Lawrence of Arabia". And he was killed riding one.
Here's what he had to say about riding:
"When my mood gets too hot and I find myself wandering beyond control, I pull out my motor-bike and hurl it top-speed through these unfit roads for hour after hour. My nerves are jaded and gone near dead, so that nothing less than hours of voluntary danger will prick them into life."
- T.E. Lawrence, April, 1923.

Sorry you couldn't make it, Dean. Snow...ugh!! Debbie and I spent about four hours taking pictures but not nearly enough time talking to assorted interesting people, including Roger & Co.
Your old bike was looking good, one of my favorites at the show, really. I love authentic "as ridden" old bikes as much as any museum restoration piece. An old bike can always be restored to better than new but it can only be original once. There was an Indian bobber back in the swap meet area that was truly a classic example of as ridden individuality.
As with many small shows, if someone goes expecting lots of glitz and acres of bikes they would have been disappointed but someone who truly loves the old motorcycles and the people around them would find much to enjoy there. I'm thinking the Cafe regulars would have all had a fine time. There was even a "Grumph" there. I'd heard of them but never seen one in person.

Nice pictures, Roger! I see looking through them that somehow I managed to miss shots of some excellent bikes. BTW, the lady on the couch, where was she at the show? :icon_wink:
