View Full Version : May Need The Support Of The Board

Hi All,
It's a long story, but I may need whatever help/support you all can provide. A long story, but my bike is in Little Rock, Arkansas, acting like the tranny just took a shit. It was being ridden to New Mexico where I was going to trade it on a new one at Sandia. Totally unexpected development. This occurred after Little Rock BMW closed Saturday night. Some good people from ADV will call roadside assist ( I have a year of warranty left) and get it in to the dealership when they open on Tuesday.
I am off to London in about 2 hours and will be in Europe until a week from Friday, with very little ability to devote time to this little problem.
So - I just put this out now and ask that anybody who may be able to help put on their thinking caps and if I do actually need some support I will reach out when the time comes.
Thanks in advance, Bob

Thanks guys.
I had a couple of personal connections there and they had the exact bike I wanted, set up already.

Bob, off-hand I don't know what it would be...but I'll monitor this thread and will jump in if anything turns up.
I live 10 miles S. of I-40 in the middle of the Texas Panhandle, so I might could help with logistics. I have a pickup rigged for bike carrying.
Collyer, if you get involved maybe we could coordinate. Maybe "Pony Express" the bike to Albuquerque.
And/or you have a place to stay here if you need it.
Gypsy organized a ride out in Ozark Ark this past Nov. I think someone from the Little Rock area attended. Duckdave is his handle & he seemed like a good guy. Me, Biff's R, Gypsy & maybe one or two others from this forum were there.
If we knew what you needed, maybe we could get him to help.
It's worth a shot.

I could probably help out in some way. And yes, DuckDave lives in Little Rock and the good people at the BMW shop know him pretty well. He's a very helpful and nice guy. That Little Rock shop is the best BMW shop I've been in.

Hi All!
Monday night here in London - I just got in from DC and was so happy to see all the support from my brothers on the board. I will keep up with Little Rock and see what they have to say about the bike and then will post up if I need help.
Thanks again for thinking of me and I'm sure everything will work out just fine.
Cheers, and God save the Queen!

I don't think I can add anything additional concerning helping out, but I'll keep good thoughts heading towards Little Rock.

Just got word that BMW of Little Rock replaced the final drive under warranty - not one cent cost to me - metal shavings were causing the speedo to go wacky - it must have been quite a meltdown! 25K on the bike.
More news to come but the bike should reach Sandia tonight.

Happy to hear it's fixed and you're good to go.
A few of us could still "Pony Express" it to AB for you ?!
Break in that new rear drive unit...:028:

Aren't you the same guy that had a newly replaced rear-end go BOOM on your BMW? Maybe Karma's not with you on this one :pot:

Bike has made it to ABQ. Motorrad FedEx'd the final drive to BMW of Little Rock and they got it right in.
Bike all better

Bob - glad to hear all is unfolding as it should under less than ideal circumstances.
How's the weather in the UK. My youngest (the lovely and slightly evil Miss Sonya) is off to High Street, Kensington one week from today. Not sure how she should be packing!

Chiily, windy, some rain every day - typical March in London! Gore-Tex and woolies!
