This is interesting, but I wonder how and why he chose what he chose to measure?
I visited Mr. Russell's home page. The first words I encounter are "The crisis facing humanity...." My defences are up already. My fear is here is yet another human going on about how destructive humans are, choosing to dwell on all our negative points rather than what we contribute. And then I see the reality. He is flogging books and tapes and DVDs in the guise of raising consciousness about our impending doom and how to avert it.
The human value proposition requires that we trade off the costs that mankind is extracting from the planet against the good that mankind is bringing to the planet. The problem with the Global Warming Loonies, the Green Party, and most of the socialists in the world is that they only ever see the bad side of the equation.
It would be refreshing to find someone who is trying to balance both sides of that equation. I will poke around and research this gentleman further because he does present some interesting data in an interesting way. But I remain skeptical of what he is trying to convey through the data he has selected to present.

I think Gord is right. Some of the numbers require examination or at least explination.
For example, the numbers that represent the Forest Cut and Forest Replanted would make you think that we're deforesting at an alarming rate. That may be true in some parts of the world, but it's not true in North America - my father-in-law is a forester and according to his professional publications we are enjoying a sizable increase in forest lands in North America as compared to the 1940's.
In addition, the number of Species Extinct is a made up number (best case is that it's a guess) that cannot be supported by science.
I wish as much effort would go into protecting us from junk science...
