No sign of any white stuff outside my place today...I wish there was...I'd jump in it and roll around in it to cool off...:003:

"Today's Ride Report"...hmmm...

Sunny, breezy, 36 deg. this morning for my grueling daily 7 mile commute to work.
High was in the mid 70's...great.
"Hoochie Mama" ('06 Speed Triple) was running great as always.
Except...

Heading North on Texas 377 from Keller some nimrod in a black Camaro SS pulled out from a side street and I had to back off to avoid punching a hole in his bumper...not real close but close enough. He was Northbound in front of me.

He goosed it up and back a couple times and I was hoping for the chance to deliver the spanking he so rightfully deserved. Then he turned West on my turn-off onto a road that is a divided 4 lane with median and seldom any traffic. Perfect.

Almost immediately you have to cross a rough railroad crossing with a slight rise on the other side followed by a drop-off back to grade level. He turned wide into the right lane leaving me my favorite turn inside him into the left lane. Usually Hoochie wants to wheelie over this rise but I held her bars down and the front wheel stayed near the ground, maybe a foot of daylight.

I guess the chassis must have still been "upset" from the tracks & rise because when she put her wheel back down at about 40 MPH in low and pulling HARD she did an *almost* full tank slapper! The bars oscillated twice in each direction in a quick left-right-left-right but I was hanging on tight and kept the throttle pinned. She calmed down and straightened out OK but my pucker factor was about a 9.2!

I nailed 2nd and she carried her pretty wheel about a foot off the ground for about 25 feet, then a shift to 3rd with the Camaro about 200 feet behind and fading fast. At ~100 on the speedo it was time to brake hard for the stop sign.

End of story except to say that a cold morning ride followed by a drag race and near-tank slapper is one hell of an invigorating wake-up! Sitting on the tank slapper induced brown spot all day is another matter.

I love this bike and have the utmost respect for her strong willed, dangerous personality. No "cruiser" this little vixen, rather a "fatal lover" that must be attended to every second you are aboard or she will hurt you, smiling all the while! "Real handlebars" once again scored big with me as they provided the leverage to bring her back to civility with no side trips to the ditch or asphalt face-plants. I really think I could not have been able to bring her back with clip-ons. And a good steering dampener moved up 2 notches on the want list.

God, I love the taste of adrenaline in the morning!
