Rchop,
Are you out there? Maybe you are in the shop dodging more welding the sparks this past few weeks, busy with a new project bike?

Just tried to show someone the photos of your finished R chop project and went to the thread. Unfortunately, the series of photos of your bike were "locked" and couldn't be accessed.

Any chance you would post a few, again. Really gorgeous bike and I like to look at it from time to time.

Also, have you put more miles on it or has someone purchase it already? An extended ride report would be enjoyed by all, I am sure.

Hope all is well.

Jeff

Hey Bones, Yeah, I'm still around. I have been working hard on the bike trying to iron out all the things I didn't think worked as well as they should. I have put about 500 miles on it so far and I'm getting close to being done.
I just didn't think the engine was running as good as it should so, I tried different things with the pipes, carbs and ignition settings.

The crossover on the exhaust pipes seemed to be working against me. I blocked it and it seemed to run better so I cut the pipes apart and started over. I finished the new set tonight and will be taking them to be ceramic coated (black) tomorrow. I should have them back on the bike by this weekend and I will take some pics and post them. They sound better with a deeper growl and are much quieter. The improved throttle response in amazing.

I have finally found an acceptable setting for the ignition program and I will be fine tuning it as soon as my new digital timing light gets here this week.

The CV carbs have been a problem...with the set main jets, no accelerator pump and the floats keep sticking. It's not a lot of fun to be riding along and see gas dripping down on the exhaust pipes! I ordered two new carbs with adjustable main jets and accelerator pumps. They should be here this week. I will have to fabricate adapters to mount them but, that shouldn't take long.

Other than the above items...the bike has been great. The ride is excellent and the brakes work good. It's damn fast and will be faster when the mods are complete.

Thanks for your interest...if you want to see more pics, they are all on my web site at: www.frsengineering.com

More to come soon,
Randy

Made a few changes since the last post...Remade the pipes, tried different carbs and ended up re-jetting the Bings. Finally got everything set up right. Throttle response is right on and the sound is great! Here is a pic of the powdercoated shock spring with the new spring spacer:

Here are the pipes...had to remove the crossover pipe and I welded on some Sportster slip-ons I had from another project. Had them ceramic coated flat black:

Thanks DJ...no, I didnt get anything special, just a regular plate. I will probably be putting it up for sale soon so, I just went with a regular plate.

Too nice to sell...too expensive to keep. I can relate with one of my bikes!
Congrats again Randy, it just gets nicer & nicer.
I just hope whoever gets it really understands and appreciates what this thing is, and is not just some yupster with a wad o' dough!

Randy;
That bike is just too cool.
I have to ask. Is this something you plan to repaet as a custom production bike or was it just for fun?

Also, what is next on the agenda? There are enough sport bike components on the market that could be mixed with your creativity to make a cool sport bike with some kind of torquey motor.

Randy,
Looks great.
Did you remove the crossover for performance, or was it a fit issue?
I assume the baffles are out of the sportster slip ons?
Is that a LaPererra seat? Great lines.

Would love to hear a sound file. I will bet is sounds nice.

Thanks for the update.

Thanks guys, I would like to build more bikes. I don't know if it will be the same as this or something completely different. I like the idea of a sport/custom with a performance motor and lots of carbon fiber stuff. Hmmmm...I did make surfboards a while back:ip::icon_cool:
Whatever it will be will have to wait about 18 months or so. My next project will be moving and building a new shop and house for the wife.

Come-on Honey...can't we just live in the shop?:icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:

Thanks Jeff, the crossover was removed because it was working against me. The throttle response is much better without it. The slip-ons have a non- removable baffle but, they sound great. The seat started out as a Le Pera and was redone by Roberti Customs in Houston. http://www.roberticustoms.com I will be making a video cd for interested customers when I try to sell it. I will try to post something then.

Dave...I don't have anything against "just some yupster with a wad o' dough!" I hope I find one :):):)
