As the next riding season approaches, I am searching for another helmet. I want to get an Arai, and as you may know, you cannot buy Arais over the internet. Ebay does not currently list (nor have they for the last few weeks) what I am looking for. So if any of you know how to get your hands on what I am trying to find, please let me know.

Arai Quantum f size Medium Shiny BLACK

The Quantum f is no longer made. It was replaced with the Quantum 2, which fits differently. My older helmet is a Quantum f size medium and it fits like Mitch Arai came to my house and measured me himself. So if I can find one of those, I will be a happy camper.

Thanks. :eusa_drool: :eusa_drool: :eusa_drool:

Call Helmet Harbor

http://www.helmetharbor.com/

and talk to the about what you are looking for. They have a lot of stock which is not on the web site and they may be able to come up with something for you. Good outfit - a couple of miles from my house but they are also a leading Internet helmet retailer.

I have an Arai Signet GT I recently purchased new from them for USD 300.00!

You can also try http://www.theservicepavilion.com, talk to Dennis Miller. Great guy, they are ARAI helmet Specialists. I learned alot about how a helmet should fit today from them. I also am getting an ARAI, (actually 2), either the new Profile or the Astral and the XD. Make sure you talk to them as they have many options that are not shown in the latest catalog.

Bob and Ken,
Thanks. I will check those sources. I once checked with helmetharbor a while ago and I think that is the place that said "in no uncertain terms, we will not sell you an Arai without your physically coming into our place." Other brands, no problem.

I would love to try the Profile, but that means showing up at a dealer that has them in stock. There is just no place around here within 50 or more miles that carries Arai. Several can order one, but don't carry them.

I have loved my Quantum f even though it is a bit heavy, so I know it would at least keep me happy.

But I will check those links. Thanks guys.

Sawbones,

I can do that for you if you like. I am teaching MSF Monday/Tuesday and will be only about a mile or two from their store and can hit it at lunch. Let me know if you want me to I would be happy to grab one and drop it by UPS.

Jeff,

After meeting Dennis today I will never buy another helmet without having a helmet expert fit me. I fit some Arai helmets Large and others XL with larger check pads.

I love my Quantam f also. A bit noisy, but the large size fits my oblong shaped melon oh so perfectly. And Ken, your right on the money about the pro fit, I think most people buy helmets that are much too loose on them. As much as I like to save money, I think Arai's in-person sales policy makes sense.

If you fit the Arai Long Oval sizes, you might consider a Shoei X-11. When I went into Helmet Harbor (I second Bob's recommendation), they suggested I try the X-11.

Its the first Shoei I've ever found comfortable, even more comfortable than my old Signet GT, which I wore for years. Better venting and quieter too. Worth a look.

I know Arai has tried to put an end to online helmet sales, and for the most part, they have. But.....The last time I called helmet harbor, I was inquiring about a different brand, then I asked them about the Arai. If you tell them you are replacing an Arai, with the same size/model, I think they will send it to you, but it's a hush-hush kind of deal.
