I just put the Sargent on my Aprilia Tuono and what a difference it made:eusa_clap:
It felt like I'm sitting on air cushion. Not to mention that the Sargent seat also somehow reshaped the thigh area so that my legs can reach the ground better as well.
I'm lucky that my Rockster's seat fits me very well and comfortably. But when that bad boy wears out, I'm going to send it in to Sargent for reupholstery. The R1150R seat from Sargent is almost as tall as the BMW Tall Seat and that wouldn't be good for my short stature.

Good deal! Generally speaking, any reduction in pains to the ass... is a good thing.

My wife got me a Sargeant seat. I have yet to ride on it for more than 45 min., but it sure seems better.

That's why we're here. :)

Hmmm....any idea if the Sargent sits lower than the stock seat on the R? If so, how much is one going for? I'm not sure if the Wunderlich is made for the R or not.

For the R1150R, the front seat alone is MSRP at $299. The combo front & rear is like $500-something. It sits higher than the standard seat. It's 10mm shorter than the tall seat.

The Sargent did not work for me and was slightly higher than the low stock that my 50R came with. Their quality is excellent. They have a 30 return policy which is great. Gave me hot spots/pressure points after about 2 hours
I went for a Bill Meyer which is specifically made to your specs. I guess 900 mile plus days, and 3400 miles in 6 and a bit, make it as comfortable as a bike seat can be made.
I was good for about 40 miles on the stock seat.

I got a sargent seat after I found the stock RR seat to be a pain in the ass on rides exceeding an hour or so. I've done a few 8-10 hours rides on the sargent seat with less pain than the stock gave me in one hour.
That said, for me at least the stock RR ergos were perfect for spirited riding. The sargent less so, however, after a few months I took the comfort for a slightly less perfect riding position.
The sargent fits me height wise, still flat foot in normal boots, I'm 5'10", 32" inseam.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Sargent's seat profile. I was deciding whether to send my stock unit in for reupholstery or buy a new one. I think that I will just send mine in and have them reupholster with superior foam and jacketing then. That way I can still maintain the same stock profile.

R4R&R summed up what so many have said with:
"Sargent seats KICK ASS!"
Yup! Gotta' agree with that!
My arse and knees could only live comfortably for about 45 minutes to an hour on the stock seat. The BMW Tall "Comfort" seat extended that to about 2 hours...
I haven't found the time limit for my Sargent seat yet. I've ridden dawn to dusk with it numerous times and the best thing about it is you never notice it's there - it's so comfy you completely forget about it.
Can't give a motorcycle seat any higher praise than that...
Cheers!

Send your stock seat in for reupholstery. If anything Sargent may give you a discount for using your seat as a model for production.

Fn...now thats a damn fine idea! Gonna call right now.

spent 30 min on the phone with Bill at Sargent seats, great customer response. He gave the ideas I need to have them modify the stock seat of the ST. Use towels to add padding, see how level the seat is..etc..I'll start experemiting and call back when I have it nailed down. They need the seat for 3 weeks, so that's a problem....anybody know where I can buy a used ST seat?

In a previous post I said that I had tried a Sargeant and it did not work for me.
In the discussion on seats I would classify the Sargeant as an aftermarket seat as they are usually off the shelf. The Meyer's, Russel's etc as custom. Custom in that they are made for/to your specific requirements.

Sargent seats represent great value. There is no comparison in comfort or looks between the stock seat and the Sargent I put on my R1150R.
At first I changed over to the "tall" BMW seat, but it was crappy as well - just taller. The Sargent really does give me all day comfort and makes the bike look snazzy (I also have the rear seat and the pirates backrest).
Is it perfect? No, no seat is. But it is close, at least for me. I thought about getting a true custom seat but felt I would end up not 100% satisfied with that either, plus I'd have to send off the seat pan and wait.
I'm a happy Sargent customer. The seat turned my bike from one that I really liked into one that I will never get rid of. I'll be ordering from Sargent again.
I currently have a Sargent on my KRS. Got a good deal on it used, so I grabbed it. I had been using a heated Comfort seat from the KGT.
While the Sargent is a much better looking seat, I don't think it is any more comfortable than the KGT seat. Plus, I've lost the bun toaster. That KGT seat has to be the most comfortable seat I've had on a BMW since my old R80/7.
Had a Bill Mayer seat on my RR and it was a huge improvement over both standard and tall stock seats.

Got my Sargent off of Ebay, it even had the Lime green piping to match my Rockster. Initially, it did seem as high or higher than the stock seat, but after a while it wore in and now is the same as stock or lower. The front seat is a tad wider. The wife finds the pillion much better, and level as opposed to sliding forward all the time. Paid 400.00 for both seats and matching backrest, I thought a good deal.:eusa_clap:
