bike = BMW R1150R
year = 2004

Just had the 12,000 service completed.

I really can't remember the "before" but now the bike idles right at 1,000 rpms. This seems low and now I have to give it little (more than usual) gas to keep it running at start-up...but it idles OK when warmed up and runs fine.

Question: 1,000 rpms seems low...how to adjust?

One recommendation was to adjust the air screws in (obviously) equal increments on both cyclinders to bump up the idle to 1,100-1,200. Does anyone agree or disagree?

Thanks for your input.

Fly, use the cold start lever on a cold start up, not a choke or a fuel enrichment lever, just a hi idle lever. When you start the bike, just start it and ride off, not reccomended to start and let idle.

My '02 consistently idles at or just below 1000 RPM. Not a problem once the bike has run for five minutes or so. I wouldn't worry too much as long as it is a smooth idle.

Fly,
As Dean says - use the fast idle till its warmed up.

Unless you have the means to re-calibrate the airflow - manometer or Twinmax, you will easily upset the Thottle Body balance if you play with the air screws.
