I bought Jim Von Baden's maintenance DVD for the GS last Saturday - it's a great resource for dummies like me and I wanted to give it an unsolicited shout out. Jim will be selling them at the MOA National, or you can get them here. (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217899)

Well worth the money you spend on it - you will save the cost of the video the first time you take the tires off the bike for mounting!

Jim is as they say " A J squared away". I've thought of ordering it myself to pick up some tips. It's always nice to see how someone else does things.

If you like maintenance videos. The Ducati Monster guys have several on the web.

If Desmo valves are a mystery to you, take a look you'll find this interesting.

Desmo valve clearances are very very tight these days and seldom need re-shiming. The clearance values on the videos are old specs.

Desmo Valves and Ducati motors in general ARE interesting...I love that kinda stuff. Those Ducatia engineers got it together.

When you explain Demo valves to folks, you get the "look" and really???
You know, the you gotta be sh^#ing me look.

Kinda like the look I got when I told Chris and Mike you adjust rocker arm end play with a hammer on the Oilhead motor.

I got one from Jim myself. Even though the R is not quite the same beast as the GS, it's still good to have.
