Thought you might enjoy some pics I took Sunday at a friend's little 4th of July party. There was a large back yard with a trampoline, lots of kids, so I sensed "photo op."

The kids seemed ready to shoot...

My buddy and his girlfriend. The older brother of a friend of mine, I met him when I was in 8th grade when he was grounded in his room. An avid reader, he didn't consider it punishment.

His girlfriend was very easy on the eyes, and quite handy with the spatula...

You meet the perfect woman, and she's married to some other guy. Sheesh...

A very sweet and pretty lady from Guatemala. I think she really appreciated getting some nice photos...

Steve, it is quiet obvious that Lake Tahoe has become your happy home, great shots as usual.

Bob- sure, but exchange those dampers for Coronas.

Dave & Dean - thanks! Helps to have willing and photogenic subjects, especially pretty girls!

Good stuff, Steve. Nothing on earth like a pretty girl! I've raided the unplugged freezer in my shop and have dug out a bunch of illegal as hell fireworks. Down to the beach later to fire 'em off towards the horizon. No fire hazard over the ocean.

Happy 4th to all who know what it's about. Deej. FYI. it's the day commemorating General Cornwallis' retirement after he really pissed off King George.

Boom!

Thanks Will...I thought Guy Fawkes and 4th of July was the same thing..It just shows what I know.

Steve...Beautiful pictures..are you sure that you don't use a silver umbrella and lights to get those great shots..the lighting is just too good..maybe it your lens.

Thanks for posting them..and keep them coming.

Thanks, DJ. I actually have a reflector umbrella, but I haven't used it yet. I need to read up on lighting some and then scare up a portrait subject. I did use the built-in flash throttled-down as a fill and an outstanding lens that's a total bargain, a 50mm prime. One reason is the lens is small and doesn't cast a shadow from blocking the flash. I have to use an auxiliary flash with the bigger lenses. There's also a cool tool in Nikon Capture NX that allows you to apply certain processes to specific areas, for example, the girl's face was highlighted in my favorite one. The women on the deck and the heartbreaker were lit nicely with natural light.

Here's a couple more that I liked:

Steve,

I'm no slouch behind a camera, myself. But you, sir, do simply outstanding work. My hat's off to you. Thanks for sharing with us.

Steve,

You, as others have said, do wonderful work. :eusa_clap: Digital has made a day of shooting be fun and not hard work. I really can't recall when I last used my 35, well other than to borrow the lens and flash to use on my digital box.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I appreciate it! Shooting a Nikon D200, Kelley. Also, there's a lot to be gained by tweaking the images in Photoshop.
