Today I checked out this great bike stand...the guys at Moto One let me try it out...it worked great.
It's the next best thing to having Serena Williams bending over..(can I say that)..:003: .. http://www.celebritybathwater.com/special/serena.jpg

DJ, are you saying that parking with your front wheel parked up Serrena's bum might be even more stable?

Don't know about Serena, but that is very similar to the Baxley stand I have for the track bike. It really works well both in the pit and especially for transport. You can use minimum tie downs and the bike is very well taken care of. The Baxley's are about $125 and have a locking mechanism. How much were the ones you looked at?:104:

Bill...no actually the bike would most likely fall over if I parked it there..:037:
We just had 2 wks of tennis overdose with the Australian Open...with so much talk about Serena and the size of her arse..big arse jokes flying all over the place.
When they showed a pic on telly of Serena from behind an add would flash across the bottom of the screen saying 'now available in wide screen'
Even radio stations offering a free ipod for those who could send in a pic of her arse...now I think about it..that's a bit odd for radio..:icon_rolleyes:
Anyway...back to the stand...Bones,they're about $200 Aussie so about $150US...here's another type from England I think called the bike-grab.

Take a look at the Baxley....one of the better mousetraps. Yes, they also use to go for $195 US, the law of supply and demand applies.

Actually I'm not much of a coffee drinker...I get my caffeine fix from Coke.
Thanks for the link to the baxley...I might make myself one..one day..maybe pick the best ideas from all three.

Ran across this one the other day in my quest to find a stand. Nifty idea but does look a little cumbersome. Has anyone used one of these?

Nice one Les..I like it....now that's gotta be better than having Serena Williams bend over in front of you....:037:
I like the way you don't have to roll back over a bump..
..because without it bolted down it can sometime just drag back wards across the floor as you try and get your bike out of it.

Those stands are all nice, but I really want a rear axle race type stand so I can lube my chain without pushing the bike all over the garage. Does anyone have any links for one of these?

DJ, having to pull the bike out of a normal stand that isn't bolted down was exactly what bothered me and got me looking at other alternatives. Was about to put it an order for the Anderson stand when I came across the Wheeldock. A little pricey but it's got my attention. TorqueMonster, Have you looked at these? The Space Saver model is a brilliant idea making it really easy to move the bike around while propped up.

Stands that support the weight of the bike using the front wheel rim only?
I dont like that idea. Seen too many bent rims. Rims are not designed for sideways loading/twisting with the weight of bikes like that.
When was the last time you checked your rims for bends and dents?

People say things like that when I hang my bicycle from the seat or wheel...but our bikes are very heavy so you may have a point there..

When Serena is around, you could always try parking between these:
