Ran across a link to a small page showing the contents of long time Porsche dealer and racer Vasek Polack's garage. Amongst the amazing goodies stashed away was this BMW. Anyone recognize the bike / engine?
Dean, is this some ancient SJBMW race bike? :icon10:
Here's the link (http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/vasek_garage.htm) to the web page so you guys can drool over one or two other goodies. I think I even spotted a couple of Bultacos in the background.

Sort of looks like the BMW conversions I've seen which use VW/Porsche engines.
As a side note, most of these conversions go slower (top speed) than the standard bike might do. The reason is the lower RPM's of the auto engine verses the higher RPM's of the bike engine. Even with a tall rear-end I've seen some top out at about 90. Of course they get there pretty fast.

Ah yes, a Porsche conversion. Makes sense the the owner was a Porsche dealer. I'm not up on Porsche engines so I didn't recognize it.
