Looks like another cross country treck or two.

Homestead (Miami, Fl.) is the weekend of April 14,15 for the 2nd Moto ST of this season and April 28 29 will be the third at VIR race way in Virginia.

Drive from San Jose to Homestead for the race then monday take the rig to Atlanta or South Carolina and leave it, fly back home, build on MC B&B, one week later fly to pick up the rig and arrive at VIR Wed April 25, after VIR drive the rig back to San Jose play a bit with all the toys and then fly back to Show Low.

The bike is running extremely well.......:pot:

Looks like my top notch riding buddy who has a mongo task of keeping me out of trouble will be along. The Will Rogers of the motorcycle world.....or as some might say....a Hunter Thompson want to be. :linzi: :058:

What can one say! Racing is addictive. Seeing the revered flat twin beast handled so matter of factly by master technicians who feel like family, and being in the thick of it, if only briefly, is well worth the effort.

I now have a small, Navy surplus re-breather unit that I got on E bay for $14 plus shipping, so I'll breathe easily after Dean's truck stop power lunch consisting of a tepid corn dog, a Yoo Hoo and a dessert red hot Slim Jim.
Progress is everything.

And then there's that little waitress in Ozona who'll be glad to see me again, and will be offended immediately by Dean the Demanding, slayer of western dreams and defiler of cab air conditioning.

I've heard through the grapevine of club racing that Homestead is "controlled" by street thugs who'll steal your helmet and your lunch. So Dean will be wearing his cop hat and carrying his nightstick, if Mz Pam will allow it to leave the ranch. Wish us luck.

Deano,
Won't be at Homestead 'cause I'll be at Arby's with my Cafe Bros, but as you know we'll be at VIR with the Porsche. Please make time to come by the race trailer as George and I would be heart broken hearted if you and the "Will-o-the-West" should shun us. The offer for the storage of the trailer and truck still stands. You can fly in and out of Charleston airport. From Charleston it's about a 6 hour drive to VIR. At this time we'll be heading up on the 25th. of April if you want to follow us. Should we travel on any other day I'll let you know.

The Casa del Bunch is always open for you and Will. Hope to see you soon.

At this point in time Doug, looks like we will take you up on your offer. Monday after Homestead, we will head in your direction, looks like about 600 miles, a hard days drive with the truck and trailer. We will then fly home on Tuesday if possible (April 17). Fly back to Charleston on the 24th for the drive to VIR, Wed the 25th. After VIR, WW and I will start the drive back to San Jose.....

Casa del Bunch, Doug? I'm in. We can put Dean in suspended animation for the evening if we have to and dine with cloth napkins. So maybe we could enjoy a night out on Charleston before we head back west?

Thanks for your offer to store the $100K race bike. You will keep George away from it, won't you? I know he covets the valve covers with the bottom edges worn off...

Will,
George isn't the problem. You'll have a hard time keeping me off it. I'd lock the trailer and take the key if I were you. After all I've got that new R1200R to compete against every time George and I ride. We'll see who has the last laugh as I blow by him on the SJBMW race motorcycle. Just kidding but take the key anyway :icon_cry:

Doug, will do. We will iron out the details in the next day or so.

And most importantly, thanks again.

The Motorcyclist Cafe may be small, but we are sure powerful and far reaching.

I like the way this is shaping up.

We'll have to see about finding some authentic lowcountry cuisine while you guys are here.

Please extend my regrets to Chris and company about Homestead. I'll be in the hills with Doug and Arby et al., shredding tires to the best of my ability and making cafe Bro's hate me 'cause of my beautiful bike. I'll be with you all at the track in spirit, if not in the flesh. You'll like Homestead/Miami. It's much more compact than Daytona. You'll do a lot less walking.

Well Boys and Girls, will be hopping on the shuttle,if you can call that, from Sho Nuff to Phoenix and then on to San Jose today. The Adventure starts again, this time driving from San Jose, Cal to Miami Fla and then next Monday up to Charlston, SC and then fly home, only to start it again a week later... Couldn't do it with out my trusty road Bud, WW. We will keep you posted.

Dean,
Your rooms are ready at the Casa. George is planning on fixing a favorite low country dish for supper. I'll leave the details to him. Let me know via PM your plans so we can meet you along the way. Looking forward to the visit even though it's a short one. Don't let Will lead you down any darken paths because, as you tell us, he's the trouble maker on these trips.

Dean-O,

I am sitting in Portland, Maine, waiting for us to get clearance to get this flying jalopy out of here. I was just invited to speak at a conference at the Hyatt Regency in Miami next Thursday morning, April 12. Unfortunately, I have to be in Washington, DC until early afternoon on the 11th or I would ride down to Miami and then back up to Arby's.

As it is, with this new development, I may be hard pressed to get back to DC and then down to Arby's. The earliest I can be at Arby's is late on Friday. Will you and Wild Will be in Miami for a few days? I could make a "plan B" of just staying over a couple of days in Miami and being part of the "Dean and Will Brown Lung Crew".

Let me know your dates in Miami and I'll try and figure out where I can be.

Well I just got off the phone with The Flying Hoon. All things considered, a podium ain't too shabby. Seems as though they were having problems with the quick-shifter which caused them to have to make a few un-scheduled pit stops.

Our connection wasn't too great, so I didn't get a lot of details. When we get him and Will up here in the next day or two, we'll get the straight skinny. And you guys, will be the next to know.

Glad to see George posted, I deleted since I thought a team member should break the news.

(I assumed you all knew you could follow the laps at the above. At least the statistical results.)

Way to go SJBMW!

Dean is asleep, snoring like a Citroen 2CV with a "holed" muffler. Took him to a buffet tonight, and as I filled my plate with interesting southern fare, he brought to table a large bowl of onion rings, which he proceeded to inundate with Heinz ketchup until I told him it is Liberal ketchup, owned by John Kerry, at which time he pushed the bowl away and got himself a bowl of mashed hush puppies and chili. The man is a closet gourmet, I tell you.

Life on the road is highly overrated. Bringing audio books has made the trek much more enjoyable, as now we can drive free from AM talk radio. We stopped at a gas station where the front door had been blown off this morning by gale force winds. At one point we had to pull off the interstate due to rain so heavy that the wipers did nothing and we were blinded by the deluge.

Next gas station they sold alligator heads for $70 and real skyrockets for $50; they are $12 in Missouri (the fireworks...), so traveling pyrotechnicians take note.

For lunch today Dean had four Frappaccinos while I had an excellent sizzling fajita entree. I was again berated for spending "big money" ($12) for lunch; he then lectured me on the premise that "that kind of money" was to be reserved for evening meals only. Why couldn't I just be happy with McDonalds like normal people are? He was building the bunkhouse, after all, and was pinching pennies. I reminded him that we were on an expense account.

After lunch it was raining heavily. I got to the truck early and unlocked his door only after leaving the old pharte in the weather until he apologized or I forgot why I had him locked out, I forget which, but I doubt he apologized.

I'll bet some of you didn't know that the official Moto ST starter car for all race bikes is the Ford Escort, recently celebrated herein by some of our most prestigious brethren. After waiting in line for the Suzuki, Aprilia and Ducati machinery to be titillated by the awesome Detroit iron, we were allowed to empty our tank so that the Moto ST techs could, spoonful by spoonful, make sure that we were fully legal and compliant. Dean tried to steal the official, Wal Mart-supplied red race fuel cannister ($2.98 at the automotive aisle) but he was caught red handed, red faced, and was about to be escorted to the main gate in zip tie handcuffs, when rescued by a limping Gary Nixon, who vouched for our ageless hoon-at-large, saying they'd both been to a highly reputable tittie bar the night before, and that Dean was still confused due to his air being cut off by some extrordinarily mega fun bags, if you will.
We went on to take podium and the rest is history. The only thing SJBMW needs is a buxom umbrella girl. If you know of any such applicants please direct them to me post haste. A bounty will be paid to the winning applicant in the form of a collectible pair of Dean's white knee socks, no longer legal for use in ANY Moto ST pit area. Thank god.

Elsie, I can't wait to meet you.

Well, Leave Show Low tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, flying to Pheonix where I will meet Will as he arrives from San Jose, Ca. we then fly to Atlanta and then on to Charlston, SC to pick up the rig and then on to VIR. After VIR we drive the rig back to San Jose, Ca.

We will keep you all posted.

You know Doug, it takes a truly twisted mind to conjure up an image like that, but come to think of it, I actually can see Geechie in a tube top, and with fire engine red chapstick. But will he be dressed for the crash? I draw the line with the Speedo, however; camping out with the Hoon and his whitie tighties is hard enough on any man, even with a stout heart and a love for the marque. There are limits, I tell you.
Elsie, I'll have my camera at the ready. I will supply the umbrellas; we have three in the trailer, strapped to the race bike, all red. This way the trio of gals I have envisioned won't have to fight for an umbrella. Hey, whatever's best for the team and victory!
I had a call from Nate tonight. He blew their minds at BMW AG with his masterful handling and times on the race bike in France. He only rode 22 laps on the bike, but was within striking distance of his fellows' best times.
Good on ya, Nate! See you mid week in Va.

Please erase all images of yours truly in anything resembling a speedo. There may have been a time in the distant past when I could wear lycra and hold my head up, but them days is gone forever.

Well... Here's an image from those bygone days. That is NOT me doing the full frontal. That is me in the leather visor. What can I
say...

That would have been somewhere around 1973 on Cudjo Key, FL.

Wild Will

...Cudjoe Key, where we were "bringing in a couple of keys..."

Dean and I are in Charleston, SC. The day was ruined in a series of bus-like planes seated next to thick people who use you as if you were a pillow. Like a Twilight Zone flashback, demon on the wing, tearing away pieces of aluminum.
More later. Sightseeing tomorrow in the place where the Civil War began, Fort Sumter, April 12, 1861. Life just ain't been quite the same since.
Thanks Doug for picking us up at the airport, and delivering us to the sumptuous rooms you've provided us. I'm blown away by this masterpiece of true Southern hospitality. Give our best wishes to your wife, please.
We'll head up to N. Ca. and VIR on Thursday, join our team, and begin the rebuilding in the parking lot. Wish us luck!
