This one from http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/news.html usually a very decent site for news. This pic has some very nice details that most others don't, but we really won't know until summer, will we?

nice how the "artist" signed his work at the bottom

Another HugoVW creation, that. I want one, but I rally don't think I can wait much longer.

Nice, but I guess I am a traditionalist to a degree. I think an underseat exhaust is not needed, doesn't look as nice as a nice real exhaust and does nothing for performance.

Yep...

Nothing quite like locating a relatively heavy component way high up and about as far back as possible to raise the center of gravity and increase the polar moment of inertia around the CG... (and like any bike these days needs more weight out over the rear wheel and off the front end???)

The underseat exhaust was originally tried to do two things - 1.) increase cornering clearance when leaned over, and 2.) To attempt to aid aerodynamics by placing the exhaust exits dead in the middle of an extremely low pressure area behind the bike in an attempt to reduce drag...

All that is well and good, PERHAPS, on a race bike that doesn't have to carry around the excess poundage in its exhaust system due to the weight of a heavy, heavy muffler... But it makes NO logical sense on a street bike. In fact, it reeks of stupidity run amok and faddish style winning out over proper function. The ideal placement for a muffler is right where Buell and the new Kawasaki ER-650 Ninja parallel twin have it, and second best to that is where the new Yamaha R6 has it...

Underseat exhausts, off the race track, are an another answer to a question no right minded engineer ever asked.

Sheer lunacy.

Cheers!

Yup... As I said b/4... There is no doubt... About a year from now ...That'll be my baby!!! :shade:

Yeah, I could quibble with this or that...but it's got the engine, wrapped in the Roadster design shown here, or the one DJ posted the other day...either one would be more than fine by me.

(Ed K reconsidering the above comments: "Drat... Ooops.... Showing my cards too soon... Ssssshhhh.... Don't want to drive up the price... Hide this notice from BMW and others b/4 they see it... Better change this tune real fast...to something like below...")

In reality, of course, no one will buy that silly thang... Exhaust needs to be under the engine... Color stinks, oh, and the bars aren't wide enough, and the side of the tank looks too much like the '05, and those reflectors next to the BMW logo have got to go... And that bump on the seat, passenger won't like that (well, on second thought)... Geez, they're so ugly they'll need to discount 'em at least $5k to move 'em off the shelf. I might possibly consider it under the right conditions. :icon_wink:

I agree with Allan about the pipes. (Even though my MT has under seat exhaust, I would change that if I could.) These pipes look like an afterthought anyway, if the tail pipe runs vertical where it does in that picture, why not mount the can in the normal position?

That aside, I hate the frame mounted fairing. A Roadster should be naked with the option to install a shield or fairing. The frame mounted phenom that BMW has been using for years is just ugly in my opinion. (CS650?) Anyway, if this bike is the Roadster, I would much rather have the R1200S.
