Just out of curiosity, Abhijeet...
How come the normally animated smilies/emoticons are not, well...
Animated here on our board?
Anybody know?
Thanks!

Allan,
I'm not quite sure I follow. Could you please illustrate with an example? I see animated emoticons "animating" as I expect them to.
Regards,
Abhijeet

Well, Abhijeet...
I dunno' how to describe it any other way, really.
On three different computers on two different broadband connections (and trying IE and Mozilla Firefox browsers) none of the animated smiley/emoticons move, or animate.
Like the "dance" and "clapping" ones from the old board, or the bouncing or waving ones, etc.
I simply see a static, non-moving, non-animated emoticon.
Like this one :eusa_clap: should show with the hands actually moving in a clapping motion... but the hands remain motionless on my screen.
And this one :117: should show the smiley actually netting the chicken... but it's stationary for me.
And this one :026: should be bouncing up and down and clapping, too... but he's just a squashed ball with his hands in the air of my computers.
And so on.
Is their a personal setting in the member's profile or something else I am missing? All of these worked and moved great on the old board in any browser I used.
It's really not that big a deal. I was just wondering.
Thanks!

Allan,
All the animated emoticons including the ones which you posted in the previous message animate on my screen. I use IE at work & Firefox at home. So....if I had to guess...I'd say there might be a messed up setting in your browser somewhere.
In IE Options, try turning on the Advanced > Multimedia > Display animations in web pages option, restart the browser and then let me know if you encounter problems.

Allan, I see them bouncing around as well, check the oil in the tranny of your computer. I suspect that you need the ST version, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.........................you know.
Hey, Dean's providing computer advice. The Apocolypse is here.

Well, hell...
I don't know what's wrong.
Abhijeet, I already had the "Display animations in web pages" checked, but I unchecked it, restarted the browser, then re-checked it and restarted the browser again, and still nothing...
And still none of them work in Firefox either...
What's weird is that I get animated emoticons when I go to other sites, and I never had this problem with either browser back over at the old board... And nothing has changed on any of the three computers I use.
Damn strange...
And no, DJ, I don't see the little guy pissing, either... He's just standing there doing nothing on my screen.
Cheers!

Allan,
There's only one other possibility that comes to mind. Do you run any firewall like Norton or ZoneAlarm? If so, check if the cafe is blacklisted.
-Abhijeet
I don't know what's wrong.

It is the 1st stage to getting banned again - your smilies have been frozen!!!

Okay, I got it...
It wasn't that my firewall - ZoneAlarm Pro - had The Motorcyclist Cafe blacklisted...
It was in the "Privacy" options for the site. Under "Ad Blocking" the default is to block animations. Unchecked that, cleared the cache, shut everything down and re-booted the box... And VIOLA' ! :eusa_dance:
Animated emoticons/smileys!
Thanks everybody for helping me out, and especially you, Abhijeet!
I would have probably never looked there if you hadn't pointed me at my ZoneAlarm settings.
Cheers!
