View Full Version : BMW Airflow 2 pants
Hi All
Just picked up a pair of BMW Airflow 2 pants that the dealer had marked down from $485 to $295 (Ozzy $) and I am considering trying to get the optional hip armor. Does anyone have any experience with this regarding comfort or any other comments??

I found the hip armor to feel like metal plates. So in mine, I fashioned new ones out of a dense foam that I got at Home depot, originally designed to be used to protect knees for guys working on flooring. It may not be "CE" certified, but at least I can wear the pants, now.

Only thing I can say is that generally speaking I'd rather have the hip armour than not have it.
Oh, and why is there never a half price sale at my dealers when I visit?

I added the hip/thigh amour to my Venting Machine pants. Comfort is fine for me. I think it’s the same setup as the Airflow.
The pads have been improved and are much more pliable than earlier models. The hip/thigh pads included with my 3-phase pants purchased about 3 years ago are the same size and configuration as the Venting Machine pads, but definitely much stiffer and board-like. In the past I have removed the thigh pads and run with the hip pads alone for better airflow on really hot days. But now I just leave all pads in place.

heats up, it's pretty comfortable. It is stiff at first, but if you tie it to a fat bean can and fire it in the oven at 200 degrees for a little while, it'll take on the curve we crave.
Seriously, the more armor we have between us and the unthinkable, the better we'll enjoy next Thanksgiving dinner.
I have the Airflow pants and they are my second favorite hot weather pants. The first place goes to the stylish, well made and practical BMW Summer pants. I wore these all weekend at USGP, simply removing the legs and locking them to the GS with the jacket. They are excellent gear.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
I have the armor fitted and its fine.
