I think there are quite a few inexperienced riders out there who could do with a year or two on a proper 250. Back in the day, if this happened to your bike, YOU FIXED IT. Now, it's just a call to the insurance guy, and it's another new bike, Cletus!

I think a year of off-road dirt biking would teach a HELL of a lot to most of these squids, and then a graduated licensing system would be a help.
All I know about riding a motorcycle, I learned by low/hi-siding, looping, endo-ing, and basically sky-ground-sky-grounding dirt bikes. You get up, and figure it all out. On the public roadways..... muy peligroso!!
I hate to see anyone get hurt, but you just have to be smarter than the bus.

Collyer posted

Thats too funny & too true.

That said, I saw this posted on Advrider, & some folks were really beating up on the woman rider, although nobody saw the accident. I'd like to think she was a decent rider that just got caught out. From what I understand she was not particularly hurt.

Asphalt, I think you and I have talked in some other forumsfore, welcome to the "Cafe", you will find this a lot of fun.

Let me strongly second the "give her some slack". From what I can find out, she was not at fault.

Remember what our own Wild Will said about jumping to conclusions.

Asphalt...thanks for clearing that up for us.

I once stopped behind a bus in a downhill slope..and it started backing up..I was leaning left and right but couldn't see the driver in the mirrors.

I was tooting my horn..but the bus was reving his engine so much he couldn't hear me...I couldn't walk my bike backwards up hill.

I was just about to bail when he stopped....sheesh!...I feel sorry for the owner of that beautiful beaster.

Thanks man.
And welcome to the looney bin, Mr. Asphalt, hope you post early & often.

My buddy from West Virginia told me that asphalt is a rectal disorder!?

MUST?

Now that the truth (troof) is out, interesting to read the reaction of the "victim".
You still have to be smarter than the bus (especially to avoid this particular problem). The rider was completely hidden in the buses' GIANT blind spot, and was obviously too close to have an escape route. It was what it was. No judgement here - accidents happen everyday - I've had mine (and someone elses', too).

Overcompensation isn't pretty, either. Neither is a squished K12R.
Accidents happen. If you live, you move on. If not.....

Well, some people think Moby Dick is a venereal disease. AND, do you know what Moby Dick's wife's name is? Moby C_nt!

I'm glad the lady wasn't at fault. She sure chose a nice machine.

Thanks fo the greeting. Good to be here. I too was an orphan from the fallout of the ol' 1150.net hubub. I moved on to AdvRider. Since the 1150R I have bought a 1200ST and 1200GS. Sadly, the classic R had to be sold. I just could not justify 3 bikes at this stage, even though it was a great start to a collection, with the R being the last of her kind...metal tank, etc. But I remeber all you fellas. I met GPM and Mike?K1200RS up at Newcombs on the Angeles Crest one day when they were on their trip around the west. At that point I new one day I'd get the time to not lurk and give some input. Maybe I'll even pony up some dough...
'til then, ride safe.
PS: DJ, I really thought by now you'd have a K1200R.:pot:

Hey I remember you!! Welcome aboard. We have some nice roads in Arizona, but they sure can't measure up to your roads. But at least ours aren't closed half way to where you want to go. :biggrinbounce2:

We're planning to do it again next spring. This time Mike wants to go all the way to Portland and then back south. He's planning on shipping his bike up, working for an airline sure has its perks. I'll probably just hit I-5, set the Throttlemeister, lean back and get some sleep.

Yeah yeah...me too....I've just been waiting to see what the new Roadster is like.

Suddenly the K1200R is looking even better......maybe one day.

DJ, i think you would be better served keeping the 1150R.
I think it is a classic design that wont be repeated. Looking at the latest trade-in values i don't see myself being tempted by anything new
......even if BMW again come out with a good looking naked bike!

....Although i do like the R1200S and the R1200GT i am not tempted as the 1150R still looks the biz and performs to my
satisfaction.

I feel very sorry for the poor girl getting her 1200R destroyed by the bus.
Hope she is OK and is not put off by the incident....although -like all of us- she would be very shaken.
We can all be in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you walk away, you win. Machinery can be replaced...even if it is a beautiful beemer!

That is..so..so.....er...Euro.......except for the black bikini girl in pic four..see looks Aussie...:054:

By the look of the mud sprayed on the front of that FJR-GS...he wasn't in front...and that box shaped thing on the rear..makes me think..ex cop bike.

Or maybe it is a cop..that might explain a few things...or maybe not...I'm back to sleep now..and trying not to think of that last pic..

Zwarte-Cross in Holland is wild. I bet there's enough pot smoke in the air, you could get high just breathing Check it out (http://www.zwartecross.nl/)

the FJR seems to be an Italian police bike.
