I guess this is really "racing on 4 wheels, at least initially, but here is a newspaper blurb about a new road race track already under construction in North Texas, near Decatur (North of Fort Worth/Dallas).
According to earlier reports, they have design or concept approval from both the F1 and M-GP snactioning bodies, although I realize that is a long way from *track* approval, and a VERY long way from ever getting a race, but at least they are avoiding the problem of the Barber track that is not quite compliant with M-GP standards. And is a good indication of how good this track amy be.
Anyweay, here's the link and you can Google up more info if you are interested.
Maybe Harry & George's car teams will run here someday?

Cool, that track will be closer to home than TMS is.

You think we might be able to get a single bike race on this track?

Nah, what am I thinking, we have fewer motorcycle racing sportsmen who would support a local race in this part of the country than teenage virgins on the north side.

Plenty of teenage virgins on the North Side...it's called "Pre-K".

four-legged or two?

clipped from Darth's link:

Cook [the developer] said it was hard to predict how much traffic the new track will generate in the rural community.

“As for a number (of people attending a race), definitely not more than 1,000 and probably 500 or less,” he said.

He added that while traffic will likely increase on race days, “I don’t think it will be detrimental.”

He's an idiot. Bring F1 to Texas and only have 500-1000 people attending?
I'd love an ounce of what he's been smoking. Indeed, nice & rolling country, not too far from Decatur (if you look it up on Google), but sounds like a guy with big dreams, a big wallet, and exactly zero grasp of reality. I bet he's never been to an F1 race (the "lightest" attended F1 race I've been to was 250,000 people, and that was @ Indy 2000 - you should see Imola!).

On a side note, I rode my bicycle through Paradise (Texas) back in May, and had lunch served to me at Paradise High School (MS 150 ride).
Beautiful country out that way - aptly named.

Collyer, I think he has been to the races but may heve been mis-quoted.
I doubt we'd ever see an F1 or M-GP race there, but it may be real nice to have a track built to those specs!
2-3 months ago I saw an aerial pic of *major* dirt work going on there.
