......and how are you supposed to turn that thing?
Hi DJ
HIT AIR as they supply the Japanese Police force (and others). They seem to be the originals and supply the air bags to some of the other jacket manufaturers. Very good quality, good armour, hard spine protection. My mesh jacket is quite cool for the humid conditions here. Get off the bike without releasing the quick disconnect and you feel a solid tug (the lanyard has a coiled spring type section) so you won't set it off by accident - takes 25-30kg pull. Have not forgotted yet, just tried it to see as he gave me a spare gas cylinder. Anyway hopefully I will never be able to report on it in action.
I also have a pair of their gloves that feature both Kevlar padding and hard carbon fibre pods on the palms just where you hit the road when you automatically put your hands out in a fall. Aparently helps save carpal tunnel injuries.
I ended up talking to the Australian distributor and have rebuilt his web site - for gratis as I am "retired" and not a real professional anyway. Just enjoy that kind of work. www.hitairaustralia.com
With the jacket I received a DVD with, amongst other things , a series of crazy Japanese guys deliberately T boning cars and flying over the bonnet to show the jackets working (in slo motion video). They may not "save" you in every accident but I am convinced that they are a worthwhile investment.
