My dog, Nico, who had lived with me for the last 7 and a half years, succumbed to cancer this past January. I had intended to spread her ashes from a beautiful place in Northern Colorado all winter... then all spring... and finally found the opportunity this summer.

At the halfway point on the ride... now to hike up the peak in the background of the first, moto only, picture.

Halfway up...

I spread a little bit of the ashes... not wanting to spoil a fragile alpine environment, most of my dog's remains came back down with me.

Then I snapped a couple quick pics from the summit and ran back down the mountain.

That's great Owen, and it's nice that Nico now has two places she loves...on the mountain top and in your heart.

Yeah Owen, thanks a lot. I amazing how big a part our companion animals can play in our lives. And how badly it can hurt to lose them. You and Nico must have been great friends. A tribute to you both.

What a great tribute. I can just picture a dog tearing through those pristene meadows. There sure is alot of beauty in our world.

Our dogs often treat us better than our human companions and friends. Sorry about your loss.

Has anyone noticed that the only true unconditional love you get is from your dog?

Looks like a peaceful end to a good life.

Thanks for the pics.

Owen. Nice machine; incomparable country. Just awesome. Have a little pet cemetary on my land here on the edge, and the memory of 4 legged pals never diminishes. You have a good heart.
My my youngest son is also Owen. He's 19 and in college. Dangerous Dean has met him. Come out west sometime and I'll show you a few nice roads.

You could hardly find a more beautiful final resting place. Nice tribute. I think a lot of us probably have an inkling of how you felt about Nico.

For me it was Ojos. Just a medium-sized brown mutt that came into the world and started life as I started first grade. The constant companion of my younger brother and me throughout our boyhood adventures in rural Indiana. Not a mean dog, but fiercely territorial and protective of me, my brothers, and my parents. I swear that dog would have followed me straight into hell. At the same time, he was the most tender creature I've known. Twice hit by cars -- his only vice was chasing them -- accidents that would have killed a dog with less spirit.

What a friend -- he was all give and no take. No baggage or BS, just pure love and trusty companionship. He's been gone over 20 years and I still miss him.

"...He's been gone over 20 years and I still miss him..."

That;s the way it is with the really good ones...
